Philosophy runs through every decision we make. We adopt a holistic approach when it comes to our campers with an emphasis on the individual. We aim to empower our campers to be less busy, less formally structured, less overtly competitive, more committed to meaningful moments, and attentive to the wonder that surrounds them.
Our objective is to present opportunities that build into a series of personal accomplishments that accumulate during the time campers are with us. We strive to make this philosophical "scaffolding" less visible to the kids. We know that beyond the activities and instruction, it's the time in-between that really matters.

About 20% of our campers (and many of our counselors) come to us from different countries around the planet. We take great pride in our rich, global community. Sharing different cultural traditions such as celebrating Bastille Day, learning Poi from our New Zealanders, and passionate cheering for ADK World Cup teams only adds to the fun!
Summer camp is about coming into one's own with a growing sense of self and confidence. We build our overnight Camp program day on top of day, week on top of week, holistically and individually for each of our campers. The longer a child stays, the more they gain from the experience.
Much of a camper's day is spent in organized activities - basketball, rock climbing, sailing, wake surfing, fencing, drama, culinary art - and whatever the activity, there is an opportunity for fun and for achievement. We encourage children to branch out and try new things so they will be challenged.

One of the many benefits of a summer at girls' and boys' camp is the opportunity for a child to gain perspective. For all campers, especially first-timers, being independent from parental care and responsible for oneself - in addition to a world of stimulating social and environmental experiences - your child will come home transformed.
Everyone at Camp is divided into age groups. Each of these groups have their own "lights out" time and corresponding sets of privileges and responsibilities. Our emphasis is on family. Life on our peninsula feels like a family where everyone dances together, campers cheer for each other, and practically everyone knows everyone by first name.
We know it's a BIG deal to be away from home so we're going to pay special attention to you and make sure you get all the loving care you need! We'll help you pick your activities if you want us to, and help you find them on our peninsula too. We have special sailboats, wind surfers, kayaks, canoes, snorkeling gear, rock climbing gear, bows & arrows.

I have been so blessed being able to spend 3 of my last 4 summers here as one of the camp nurses! It is truly an amazing place.. with so much to offer children on both land and water, indoors and out, in beautiful upstate New York. I plan on returning for the rest of my life as my schedule allows and can't wait to have my kids be campers someday!

The most magical, life-changing camp ever! No electronics allowed. Swimming mandatory. Staff caring, knowledgable, international, committed to campers. My kids have fallen in love with nature, sports, their peers from all over the country and world. I cannot recommend this camp highly enough. Extraordinary! Builds leadership and team work. Thank you, Camp Adirondack!

This will be my nine year old sons second year. He absolutely loved camp last year and is counting down the days for this upcoming summer. He originally was going to go for two weeks, but he ended up staying six. He met people from all over the world, and he came back more mature, independent, confident with a broader perspective of life in general.
I highly recommend Camp Adirondack and for any parents contemplating whether to send their younger child for two weeks or an entire half, I definitely recommend an entire half.

I spent several years at this camp growing up and looking back, it has had an extremely positive influence on my life. You learn incredible life skills and grow as an independent person. Adirondack Camp instills and reinforces core values; things like respect, responsibility, leadership, and cooperation.
And all of this is done in an incredibly beautiful place, a place where you can disconnect from the hustle and bustle of technology and your day to day life, a place filled with incredibly caring people. Over the years, I've found that friends from middle school, high school, and college, came

I went here as a child, both as a Camper and a Counselor. Now both of my kids go here (my son is going onto his 8th year). The care, love, and passion to do the right for the Campers, the Camp, and the Lake are core to everything ADK is all about.
You can't go wrong with Adirondack Camp. It was founded in 1904 and is still going strong today!
