Dr. Donna Melton grew up in the Hoosier State of Indiana. Her father founded his own optical business, Shimp Optical, in downtown Indianapolis serving the local area for over 50 years. Committed to serving those who serve others, Shimp Optical was recognized as a leader in focusing on the optical needs of local community groups, such as the police and fire departments.
Most insurance companies will cover the cost of an annual comprehensive exam, if not bi-annual exam to monitor your eye health and assess the need for a prescription. For more information on how often you should be getting your comprehensive exam, please see the recommended guidelines from the American Optometric Association.

Thank you Dr. Melton. I really appreciate your staff and your office. You eye exam was AWESOME! My last couple of eye exams were not thorough or complete. Your exam was better than I ever remember having. And your equipment is very modern and comfortable. I don’t remember the dilating drops being done so easily.

Dr. Melton put my mind at ease regarding the recent changes in vision I've been experiencing. She was thorough and made herself very aware of my needs when determining what types of exams to do. She was patient with my questions and didn't try to sell me anything.

The care and knowledge were amazing! Dr.Melton was thorough and explained everything to me. I felt like I had finally gotten a good eye exam. When it was time to pick out the frames, Victoria was blunt, honest and very helpful, which is exactly what you need when you have no idea what glasses look good on you.
