Some think it's because of our wide variety of activities, the multiple weekly themes, or our expertly trained staff known as the Fun Professionals. It's actually because we have created a specific camp environment that develops child and youth development and have completely camouflaged it in FUN.
Campers have the opportunity to receive education in practical life-skills that can positively impact future endeavors, and aid them regardless of the career they choose to pursue. Real education often comes in the form of relationships, and our campers have the opportunity to learn much through a connection with their camp counselors.

Services
At Tate's Day Camp, our mission is to provide our campers and their families with the ultimate summer day camp experience. Our rigorous interview and training process ensures that we have the right team in place to lead our multiple activity areas - from the swimming pools all the way to the climbing tower - and to supply exciting opportunities for growth in every area from relationship building to group collaboration.
Designed to foster leadership skills, build a community of peers, and encourage growth through shared experiences, the Leader-In-Training (LIT) Fellowship integrates active learning for each leadership cohort of rising 11th and 12th graders. Each session of the LIT Fellowship enrolls up to 10 fellows and runs for four weeks, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day.
A Counselor-in-Training (CIT) is a rising freshman or sophomore who is ready to grow as a leader. CITs are willing to engage intentionally and venture out of their comfort zone in order to grow into young men and women who inspire and lead those around them. Counselors-in-Training commit to a three week session at Tate's.
You can sing She'll Be Coming Round the Mountain 5 times while standing on your head in the rain. Each year when we survey our camp families and ask them what they consider to be the greatest benefit to the Tate's Day Camp Program, winning by a landslide, the number one answer is always - STAFF! Tate's Day Camp staff members, also known as the Fun Professionals, create those magical camp memories that campers treasure forever.
There are the obvious ways we can do our part for the environment: recycling, taking shorter showers, or for some driving a hybrid car. After I graduated from college I took a year off to apply. We recently asked a few of our staff members some questions so that you could get to know them better as camp nears.

You could search high and low for the rest of your life and never find a day camp better than Tate’s. I grew up attending the camp as a camper (started at age 7) and eventually became a summer employee from the time that I was 16 until I was 22, in college at the University of Alabama. Coming home for summers to work was one of the best parts of my college-aged experience. The intentional and educated care and leadership that both campers and staff receive here are unparalleled. I have life-long friends and mentors from this program and I couldn’t trade them for the world. I’m already excited

There is truly no other daycamp in Knoxville we would have allowed our son to attend more so than Tate's Day Camp. Our son attended every Summer from age 4 to 11. The staff quickly became part of our extended family. Every hour of the day was carefully planned with such professionalism, love and concern for the child to grow, to explore and develop lifelong passion to love nature and explore creativity.

My 4 yr old son just finished his first week at Tate's Day Camp, and he absolutely loves it. The camp is well organized and the staff is amazing. There is a different fun theme each week. At the end of the day he is worn out (in a good way) from the outdoor play, daily swim lessons, zip-lining, and other fun activities. Tuition is pricey compared to daycare, but the experience is well worth the investment. If you want your child to enjoy an active summer without screen time, I highly recommend Tate's Day Camp!

My son went to Tate's five summers in a row and I can't say enough about how he loved it. From the excellent, attentive staff to the unreal number of activities to the other kids who attend, this camp creates a family. It's well worth the expense. I'd recommend multiple weeks if you can swing it so that friends can be made and traditions formed.

I don't know any one who goes here, but all I can complain about is how annoying they are to listen to all day. Especially the workers that yell the same to things every five seconds. I come outside hoping for silence but I look at my front yard and the first thing I see are a bunch screaming kids going down a zipline. The least they could do is have the courtesy to build a fence for privacy. You would think a place like this would be somewhere in the mountains, and you could probably learn a lot more things there, but no, its surrounded by a busy road and buildings. I'm just not feeling it. At
