Our grandfather Hassan was the neighborhood baker - crafting the recipe he had brought from his native Damascus, to his new hometown, Brooklyn. His wholesome, fresh, hearth-baked pita bread, became so popular that people frequently traveled from out of town just to pick some up. As third generation bakers, today we proudly continue our grandfather's legacy, delivering "America's Original Pita" - and our artisinal flatbreads - to your pantry!
We are proud to bake the best breads staying true to old-fashioned, time-honored methods. Innovative and old-fashioned are not two words that are typically associated. At Damascus Bakeries, that's just what we are. We still follow our grandfather's original pita recipe, putting heart and soul into each batch, and we're also always on the lookout for new innovations that will better serve our customers' needs.

Services
Damascus Bakeries, home to the Original Pita, serves delicious satisfaction through our line of artisanal flat breads. In 1930, our maternal grandfather, Hassan Halaby, opened Damascus Bakery, a local storefront bakery on Atlantic Avenue, Brooklyn, New York, responsible for producing Middle Eastern Pita and Lavash Breads to feed the local community.
Our authentically-crafted lavash breads are a thin, soft alternative to other types of bread. They're versatile, and can be used for sandwiches, tortillas, pizza, sushi-if you can create it, lavash can wrap it. While the world may have changed since 1930 when our grandfather first opened his bakery, our dedication to authenticity hasn't.
Our Panini bread is hearth-baked, using only the highest quality ingredients. We strive to maintain that level of excellence our bakery has been known for, since opening its doors three generations ago. We take the time to ensure our artisan Panini bread is only the best quality, with each and every batch.
We partner with whole food distributors to provide savory, wholesome breads and bread products to their customers. Our product line is fully customizable to meet and exceed the desires of your clientele. We thrive on the opportunity to create your entire bread line, which boasts both a healthy and delicious end result.

We love the pizza bread and after buying one that turned out to be moldy, I emailed the company and their response was amazing. Not only was it quick and apologetic, but they went above and beyond what I had hoped for. It was a great experience and I will continue to buy their products! Thank you again Damascus Bakery!

Negative supervisor Lesmond Matthews. Very racist environment between the blacks & the Hispanic people. Management not so understanding but some co-workers were enjoyable to work with. Must learn how to treat employees like we are actually people. Have bosses that walk around fitting with the females on the line.

I've lost 40 lbs in six months working at Damascus Bakeries. I enjoy the speedy challenge learning everything there is to know and being able to accomplish our goal as a team. We fill a variety of bagels smelling so good freshly baked right out of the oven; with different flavors of cream cheese freshly made at Damascus Bakeries. I love my job :) <3
