Services
Welcome to the racing page of the Redondo Beach Yacht Club. We offer a full range of sailing races, from our Tuesday evening Horizon Series (including "Women at the Helm") "beer can races" around the marks to our Queen Mary Race to Long Beach. You don't need to have racing experience to participate in these races as many boats are often looking for crew.
We anchored bow and stern as the sun rose a bit higher, and then laid down for a few hours of perfect rest. And later that day we swam, snorkeled, and took a dinghy ride to explore Little Geiger, Emerald Bay, and Doctors' cove. Sunset was a Cabernet Sky and warm from a southern wind. Redondo Beach Yacht Club was chartered in 1961 and has been committed to excellence in all aspects ever since.
Early in the 1900s, civic leaders envisioned a protected harbor for Redondo Beach. Frank Lloyd Wright, Jr. filed a master plan to which today's King Harbor was a close resemblance. From 1917 through 1958, a series of inadequate attempts were made to create a protected harbor. The first and most important was the deep-water Redondo Canyon that sits just outside the entrance to the harbor.
We are members of ASMBYC and SCYA with an excellent racing program. We're locally famous for our March through September, Tuesday night Horizon and June Cup ("women at the helm") races with PHRF and Mariner (cruiser) fleets. We are currently accepting new members. Racers or cruisers, sailors or power boaters, or anyone just interested in boating or the boating lifestyle.
