The Zeiders American Dream Theater in Virginia Beach in Jan. and Feb. of 2019. A special Q&A session was held there for International Holocaust Remembrance Day. The play, Distant Survivors, is adapted from the Holocaust poetry of William Heyen. It has received humbling testimonials from audiences. The play's honorary committee members includes Susan Sarandon, actor and activist.

A trailer for the 2016 performance from the Jewish Community Center has been included below. Amidst the ongoing pandemic and with many theaters and performing arts venues closed, theater companies and other non-profit arts organizations have had to be extra creative. A pre-recorded version of Broken Dolls was co-produced with Zeiders American Dream Theatre (the Z).

Mirage Theatre Company is a New York City based non-profit theatre company, working with diverse artists and audiences to bring about "creative change." Plays are presented in all phases of development: staged readings; workshops; and fully staged productions. A project can begin at any phase, depending on readiness.
Mirage Theatre Co. creates, produces, and tours an international repertoire of premieres and revivals to celebrate cultural differences, affect social change, and uplift the spirit. Our perspective is artistic, cultural, and global. We believe in "creative change" - in the power to deepen understanding of "the Other" and theatre's ability to reach across borders.
This staging of Distant Survivors seems like a perfect touring show for high schools, universities, JCCs and other clubs, and places of worship. Wouldn't it be wonderful if The Z and your cast could reach a broader audience! I saw the play on the last Sunday. I was amazed by the skill of the actors.
Broken Dolls tells the fictional stories of women- both international and domestic- who have been trafficked for sex work, domestic labor, hotel work, and agricultural work. Taking place in a waiting room at a social service facility, the play revolves around five female survivors of human trafficking who cross paths.
