Gary and his team at Sun Light & Power installed a fantastic system at our home in Walnut Creek which has drastically reduced out energy bills. We have an almost 100 year old very energy inefficient home and the solar system installed by Sun Light & Power a number of years ago has made a huge difference in our comfort and peace of mind. Everyone we have had contact with at Sun Light & Power have been friendly, courteous and professional. I would recommend Sun Light & Power to anyone thinking about solar.

I have an old 1980s vintage solar thermal system in Oakland. A few months ago they replaced a 4' x 8' panel with a new one from Heliodyne. More recently they programmed my pump controller for telemetry and re-insulated all the supply pipes. They even helped with some damage during that last vicious wind storm. I've appreciated the level of communication that I've received from the SL&P team. I feel good about the fact that I have a go-to service vendor for solar thermal without getting pressured to purchase a new system.

This is a great local company. Very responsive, knowledgable and professional. My 10 year solar electric installation has needed warranty repair 3 times (inverter failures, not the installation) and SL&P has been terrific.

I just experienced one of the best customer service from Sun Light and Power. I requested a document from our installed solar panels from 2007. Thought this will take a few days to receive instead received the requested documents in minutes! Top notch and responsive staff. I highly recommend SL&P.

Sun Light and Power is great to work with on any solar project. We have had the luxury of working with SLP since 2008 on ten different construction projects. These projects range from big to small and both photo-voltaic and solar water systems. SLP will help in all phases of your project: design, cost analysis, value engineering, rebates, government incentives, conservative return on investment analysis, finance options, structural connection details and coordination, contracts, PG&E coordination and communication, electrical design review, shop drawings, complete submittal packages for review

Sun Light & Power installed our solar system in 2009. While we aren't big energy users, it was our one of our small contributions towards mitigating climate change. We found the employees to be thoughtful and answered our questions before, during and after installation. The system has required very little maintenance. When we called about a problem, they were very thoughtful about the different things it could be and what would be the options of expected costs.

Our 11 year old Sharp Inverter started failing in 2016, and by early 2018 it went down every other day. We had a solar company come out to diagnose the problem; they advised us that Sharp was no longer making inverters, parts were not available, so we should either live with it or have it replaced. Cost of the diagnoses was $325. Based on a tip, we called Sun Light and Power and they were immediately optimistic that it could be fixed. After a quick visit, the failing fan was ordered, and in a week they cam back and installed the part. Voila, no more problems, an easy fix, and the cost was a fraction

I contacted Sun Light and Power for some help understanding how the new PUC approved rate structure had changed my electric bill. Dana of the service department looked at my bill and explained what was happening and never asked for a penny even though I offered to pay. My system was installed by a now defunct company in 2001. I had SL&P do a performance assessment. They found some relative small issues with worn out parts. They explained the most cost efficient way to correct the issues and did so for a very reasonable price. I strongly recommend SL&P.

Sun Light & Power were great to work with, and I highly recommend them. They were prompt, prepared a thorough, fair estimate, and completed all the work on time and on budget. They kept us updated on what was going on and carefully explained all the improvements they made to the system. We'll absolutely use them again in the future.

The company from which we purchased our solar panels went out of business and apparently took our 15 year warranty coverage with it. I searched from a company to service the system, and Sun Light and Power came through. It's never fun to pay to fix something you thought wasn't going to cost you a cent, but Adam at SL&P was engaging, explained how the system operates and why it fails, and was diligent in fixing the problem until I was back on line

Sun Light and Power has serviced our solar hot water heater for 20 years. It was in place when we moved into our house and is now over 30 years old and still basically working. Recently the supplemental hot water tank started leaking and we needed service fast. Ian, who is their great service technician, emailed me extensively to help me turn off the system and then was able to make a visit to finalize shutting down the system. We have always received professional advice and great help from Sun Light and power.

We plan on getting our system back up to speed with a new solar tank and of course

Sun Power & Light installed our 3.5kw system about 10 years ago. They provided terrible customer service back then when solar was still in its early adopter phase - and they actually got worse this year when we called them to check out our system to see if it needed any maintenance or if they they thought an upgrade might be warranted.

10 years ago, they took more than 2 months to file a form that was needed for us to get our $15k rebates from the Feds & state solar incentive programs.

This year, they sent out a fellow to do a system audit and review for $200 and $60 travel fees from

I wanted to install a PV solar system on my San Francisco house.

I got bids and interviewed 6 firms, 4 from SF, one from Marin, and Sun Light & Power. Most of the reps were very helpful, but Eric, from Sun Light & Power was really thorough and informative, without any pressure. One national firm was relentless in their pitch, which turned me off.

PRICE:

Sun Light & Power was # 2 firm in price, but I went with them after vetting their most recent customers, who were uniformly positive.

INSTALLATION:

Crew was on time, workmanlike, and professional. Install completed in a little

Thanks for getting Matthew out to see me as quickly as you did. He did a fantastic job and got my system up to speed in no time. He was very professional and competent. Also very courteous and patient when explaining my system to me. I hope he stays with the company a long time. A huge improvement from the last guy who would sometimes not return my calls and one time totally blew off showing up for a scheduled repair. Scott B.

Our system was installed and online in 2009. The process for us to think through what we needed and could afford took a fair amount of time while we sought bids. The Sun Light & Power employees were helpful in the explanation and the installers did an excellent job. The system has performed much better than they expected and we are delighted with very low PG&E bills. It is our small contribution towards a greener environment.

I had them spec out and install a solar system during my house remodel in 2008/2009. The system they designed was far too small for my energy needs, so despite going through all the expense and hassle I still have a large electricity bill. What's worse there doesn't seem to be any way to add on to the system to generate more solar power.

They were not responsive during the construction process. I'd send emails and make phone calls multiple times before I got a response. There was a lot of staff turnover and each time a new person took over I'd have to explain the whole

These guys are amazing.

I called, they came by, they looked at our smallish home in SF, explained exactly what things would cost, and even walked us through options, very patient throughout.

I got my house solar-powered three years ago, and it's been pretty fantastic. Everyone from the sales person to the contractors doing the install were smart, loved their jobs, and were really interested in doing what they were doing. Either that or they're given happy pills each morning.

The work was done very professionally, and they've even run interference with PG&E to help me get
