Services
I have been a registered nurse (RN) since 1983. Most of my career has been spent caring for premature and special-needs infants in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). During this time, I understood the invaluable benefits of mother's milk for these special babies and I thoroughly enjoyed helping mothers breastfeed.
Our lactation consultants have over 10 years of experience, and we know how to deal with every type of breastfeeding issue. As you can see below, we do it all when it comes to lactation consulting in Illinois. Please don't wait to come to see us if you're a new mother that hasn't breastfed before. Lisy was such a gift to me and my baby! So much so that this is the first review I have EVER written. I thought nursing would be easy with my third child. But after babe wasn't gaining weight and I was experiencing lots pain nursing, baby had a frenectomy at 14 days old, and then refused to nurse at all. Lisy helped coach me through exclusive pumping and bottle feeding to keep my supply up and help baby get to birth weight, showed me how to help baby practice his latch with a nipple shield while baby recovered, and eventually helped my baby start nursing again. I thought nursing was lost for us

After some initial struggles with feeding, we were told by the hospital that we should consider switching exclusively to formula. That really had my wife down.
That is when Dr. Peters came in. She helped when noone else could. Her shockingly simple techniques stuck the both of us as the "right" way and we were both at ease with her the entire initial and follow-up visit.
If you have any struggles as a young parent, I can't recommend working with Dr. Peters in any stronger terms. She is a miracle worker!!

If I could give this place more than 5 stars I truly would. My newborn had issues staying awake during feeding and had some other things we wanted to polish up, so the baby gets the best quality feeding time. After an hour spending with Lisy ( the women that consults and teaches proper breastfeeding ) we left feeling confident and happier than ever. We learned a lot during that session. They even ensure us to follow up with them in case we have any questions or concerns later on. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Lisy Peters was without a doubt a God send. I was struggling to breastfeed after coming back from the hospital. I felt all this pressure to have him fed every 3 hours, without realizing that was causing a lot of stress on myself and the baby. Lisy explained that my milk supply was being affected by stress and encouraged me to relax and gave me very useful tips. She changed my breastfeeding experience into a pleasant bonding time with my son. I haven’t had any trouble after seeing her. I thank God for her every time I breastfeed. I am so happy that my pediatrician recommended Lisy to me! She is the best thing that happened to me postpartum as a breastfeeding mother. Coming out of the hospital and finding out that my baby lost a bit of weight, and learning that I was not making enough breast milk, I became emotional. But luckily I was guided to see Lisy. Lisa gave me so much confidence and emotional support during this postpartum time as a breastfeeding mother. I went from supplementing my breastmilk with formula to now strictly breastfeeding my baby. It makes me feel so good as a new mom. Especially during this pandemic

We have had a wonderful experience here; I could not recommend it enough. As a new mom, I was very overwhelmed by breastfeeding. I received so much information & varying opinions in the hospital, we were having trouble getting a good latch, and I didn't know how to manage my supply. Lisy helped breastfeeding become manageable and successful for us. She provided information that I wish I had known from the beginning, she gave tips that allowed my baby to successfully breastfeed, and she cheered us on and helped us feel so much less stressed. I came to see Lisy when my baby was about a month old and I was on the verge of giving up on breastfeeding. I was in constant pain and just couldn't get my baby to latch well. We were both frustrated. Lisy not only helped me and my baby become successful together but gave me the confidence I needed to continue. I went from dreading breastfeeding to enjoying it!

Lisy is incredible! She is the reason I was able to breastfeed my son. If it wasn’t for her I would not have been so successful and been able to exclusively breastfeed him. I went to Lisy 4 days after my son was born and had a couple of follow up appointments with her. I learned new things each time I saw her. I recommend going right after your child is born so that she can set you up for success right away. Lisy is extremely knowledgeable and shared so many helpful tips with my family and I. Seeing Lisy was the best thing I did as I started my breastfeeding journey.

Tips as simple as the type of nursing pillow to use (the My Brest Friend has a belt buckle feature that helps you keep the pillow in place and baby close at all times), using a U grip vs C one for optimal latching, and to aim for 20 minutes per feeding (you want to get the fatty hindmilk to the baby vs the less fatty foremilk that's produced first) were key for me! Also, I learned the most supportive way to pick up a baby: gripping her under the armpits with fingertips supporting the back of the neck!

Lisy is a life saver! My daughter latched perfectly at the hospital, our first night home she wouldn't latch to save my life! I felt so defeated and sad. I woke up at 7:30 the next morning on a mission to find a lactation consultant who could help. I was given Lisy's number from Evanston hospital and she was able to see me later that day! She was so gentle and kind unlike many other lactation consultants can be. She helped my baby and me tremendously and we are rocking and rolling with breast feeding now!

If it weren't for Lisy, I would not have been able to nurse my son past two weeks old. I even went back with my second baby for help as she was very gassy. She is kind, patient and extremely knowledgeable about all things breastfeeding and pumping. At the appointment, she gets a detailed understanding of your concerns/history and provides advice about nursing techniques as you breastfeed and explains other information in an easy way. She does not rush you and I always leave feeling so much more informed and confident. I would highly recommend this facility.

Lisy is amazing!! I came in with a host of problems - bad latch, thrush, low supply. She was so patient and professional. She examined my flange sizes for my pump and recommended I go down 3 sizes - whoops! Since her recommendation, my pumping sessions have been much more efficient and less painful. I also followed her very thorough candida protocol and have noticed significant improvement.
I only wish I lived closer so I could go more often. Great little family owned business with lots of mommy goodies available for purchase in the shop!

Lisy and Joy are such a blessing to new moms. I got so much guidance coming to Healthy Babies Happy Family. She helped me with getting a great breast pump (covered by insurance), supplies I needed, etc. She also helped me with building up my milk supply.
Lisy encouraged me and helped me to stick with breastfeeding. It was really hard but having her made it possible.
Having lost my mom, it was such a blessing to have someone to come to with all of my questions. I feel very lucky to have found this place and I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone!

My wife and I were losing hope but Lisy gave us so much good input and the confidence to keep going. She was successful in guiding my wife to breastfeed.
Couple months later my wife was going back to work and our baby was not taking the bottle.
We scheduled an appointment again to help us with bottle feeding and again she helped us tremendously.
Don't hesitate if you need help. We highly recommend this place and you won't regret it. 5 stars all the way.

Very helpful and knowledgeable. I'm a first time mom and the staff here was very friendly. I felt like they were experi need moms guiding me in what breast pumping will be like and how to use the equipment. It's kind of tucked in a huge plaza so it may be hard to see from the big street when driving but just turn into the lot with 5 below and it's around the corner from there. Also call them and they will be happy to help you find them.

Wonderful store for new (or any) Mom! I called to purchase pump nursing parts delivered to me and I spoke with two different women who spent a lot of time helping me determine which parts to get for what I needed including a bag for my portable Medela Pump In Style pump. I never felt rushed even though I asked a lot of questions as a new mom and all my questions were answered thoroughly. They're very knowledgeable and helpful, and they have a ton of products in store and on their website. I received my order within 2 days.

This is such a hidden gem! I needed help when my 14 week old wasn't gaining weight. They were able to get me in to see a lactation consultant that day. This place is NOT fancy, but it's clean and most importantly they were SUCH a help! They were also willing to bill insurance. If you need help breastfeeding consider heading there!

Lisy Peters is a fountain of knowledge. She was tremendously helpful in diagnosing a poor latch, lip tie and confirmed a case of thrush all of which were causing problems as my 3-week old daughter and I were working on our breastfeeding relationship. She also taught me a great deal about breasts, breastmilk and a baby's anatomy, all of which was new information after extensive reading and conversations with both my midwife and pediatrician.

The lactation Consultant is the best. She handled my wife's pregnancy so well and made the experience worth wile. Very knowledgeable, courteous and she talks you through the process and take a lot of interest in their patients. Also ever smiling aura makes you at ease and shepatiently answer all your questions and concerns. I would highly recommend her to anyone. Specially first time parents. Thumbs up

I can't say enough good things about Lisy Peters. We found her through Yelp; we were desperate to find an LC that could see us at the time as we were discharged from the hospital on a Friday afternoon and our baby wasn't eating and was losing weight. She squeezed us in that day, and so, exhausted, we drove the 40 minutes to Niles, IL that day, and we were so thankful we did. She was so comforting and encouraging and helpful! She gave good clear instructions and continually encouraged me... I truly believe that I would have given up otherwise.
