Individuals often change after experiencing a brain injury. The purpose of this section is to help you in assessing whether or not you or someone close to you suffers from Mild Traumatic Brain Injury (MTBI), Post-Concussion Syndrome, or from a more serious injury. It provides information on the assessment and treatment of MTBI, literature and a continuing education course.
If brain cells die or are damaged because of a stroke, symptoms occur in the parts of the body that these brain cells control. Examples of stroke symptoms include sudden weakness; paralysis or numbness of the face, arms, or legs (paralysis is an inability to move); trouble speaking or understanding speech; and trouble seeing.
Neuroplasticity has been described as, "The science of how the brain changes its structure and function in response to input." With that, there are two important aspects of this definition. First, the brain really can change in relation to structure and function, unlike virtually any other organ of the body, such as the heart or liver.

My mother was placed at Chino Avenue Congregate Home after a long hospital stay. It had been extremely challenging to find a nursing home willing and capable to take her in. The owner Steve visited my mom in the hospital personally and she was soon after transferred to Chino Avenue. This nursing home has been godsend for my mom and my family ever since. You will not find a friendlier and more caring staff anywhere. The rooms and the facility are very clean and well-kept. Each and every patient is treated with the highest level of care and respect. Steve, along with every member of the staff, will

Our daughter who has a traumatic brain injury has spent the last 9 years in a skilled nursing home after being hit by a car, getting little more than basic care. Finding Chino Avenue Congragate Home has been true blessing. Only wish we found them sooner. Our daughter, who is now 30 has been there for almost 3 months and has shown improvement in her mobility and most importantly, cognitive improvement. I believe this is because of the loving care and therapies she has received from the wonderful staff of this home. When her face lights up when any staff member walks into her room It has to be because

I am extremely thankful to Steve, the staff, and Doctors at Chino Avenue Congregate Home.
They have been completely professional but also kind add friendly.
They have kept me informed at all times of my son Michael’s needs and condition. They have a loving and compassionate concern for his needs and his health.
Their nursing and physician staff have better exemplary.
The director, Steve, has been a lifeline to me keeping me informed and making sure that Michael has all of his needs met.
I would recommend this rehab to anyone who was thinking of sending their child or adult there.

My wife and I will forever be great full to Steve Martinson and his staff for the loving care of our daughter Ashley.
She suffered a brain injury and has been at Chino Congregate for over three months and with the cognitive and physical therapy she has received is now ready to move to an acute rehabilitation hospital. Steve is an angel doing Gods work here on earth and with his guidance we have witness a miracle. She is now alert and reacting to commands and we can not stop believing in the work being done at the facility.
Thank you with our all heart;
John and Linda

My Brother Came here after he fell out of a tree and was in a coma for 3 months. The Staff at Chino is Incredible in the way they perform their jobs, and truly care about their patients and the families. Bobby ended up making a full recovery after 4 months at Chino. We have had some experiences with Skilled Nursing Homes before, and most of them have been very poor, But Chino really raised the bar, providing most excellent care. Bobby would not be with us if it wasn't for Chino Congregate Home. Thank You to Steve and his Awesome staff.

My brother was in a horrific car accident in November 2018. He was diagnosed with a DAI-TBI grade 2. He wasn’t supposed to wake up but he did...and kept proving all the doctors wrong. He finished his stint at Loma Linda hospital and their TBI program and was walking, talking.. But he wasn’t ready to go home. There Are no decent facilities for people who sustain a brain injury after the hospital and rehab (which is only covered for 1- 2 months). If they are young they go to an elderly home..if someone will take them. No one would take my brother because he was walking, but then our angel named

I am so very proud of this healing home, and all of the wonderful people that work here. Most medical facilities grow weary of patients that don't get better and they just stop trying. The people of Chino Congregate have expectations of their patients improving and going home. So even if the patient is in a Coma and on a Ventilator, they still treat them as if they were awake. They talk to them, sing to them, pray with them, take them outside and let them enjoy the sunshine. These people are unbelievable, and the results of their work are undeniable. I know it sounds impossible but more then 80

I ABSOLUTE love Chino Congregate. They have done wonders for my daughter. The staff is loving and truly cares. I can't believe how much my daughter has improved. She has been in several hospitals and care facilities. All of them were terrible. Once she got to Chino Congregate we started seeing improvement right away. Steve the owner is amazing and he is involved with all the patient personal and the family. If you are looking for a place for your loved one I pray you are able to get them into Chino Congregate.

What can I say about Chino Ave Congregate other than it was Heaven sent. My 22-year-old son was in a tragic car accident. He suffered a severe Trumatic brain injury. After the hospital deemed my son stable enough they transferred him to a large skilled nursing facility that had 50 sub acute patients. I had a horrible nightmare experience at that facility. My son had pneumonia multiple times and developed an unstageable bed wound. All of this happened even with me being there every day. My son almost died in that large facility. He ended up back in the hospital after a staff member found him blue
