We are a family owned and operated business with over 70 years of history in the jewelry industry. Bill Farmer, Jr. and his sister Kristi Farmer Lykins grew up in the jewelry industry, were trained by their parents and they continue their legacy today.
After graduating from watchmaking school in Louisville, KY Bill Farmer, Sr. came to Lexington in 1950 and fulfilled his dream of opening a jewelry store on the "sunny side of the street" at 821 Euclid Avenue in Chevy Chase.Soon thereafter his wife, Jean Farmer joined him in the business and for over 40 years they worked together helping their customers and friends celebrate life's important moments.

One carat equals to 0.2 grams or 200 milligrams. Carat weight is the prime factor that determines the weight of a diamond. Larger diamonds are undoubtedly costlier. Carat makes expressing diamond weight easier as compared to milligrams. Instead of giving three labels to diamonds weighing 20 milligrams, 211 milligrams and 220 milligrams, carat offers a category for fitting the diamonds in a one category, placing these diamonds in one-carat range.

Very small and cute place. Staff was friendly. I went in to have an appraisal done. They start out at $150. The only down fall that I didn't like about the appraisal is they don't give you anything stating what you dropped off or any type ticket to pick up the item. What if you have 3 John Smith with a heart necklace what's to say someone took the wrong item as they didn't have a ticket number or something. Maybe I'm over thinking it but still lots of people can't be trusted to say that the wrong item. Or what it they were robbed you have nothing to show that you dropped something off to be appraisal

I wanted to buy sweet sixteen ring for my granddaughter for her birthday. I wandered into this store and discovered a hidden treasure on earth. The atmosphere is calm, quiet and beautiful. I found a beautiful ring which I put on layaway. Each time I made a payment I was waited on by Sue who is friendly and professional and an asset to the business. I cannot say enough good things about the shop. Next time I need a ring I will go there.

Great family owned jeweler! Kristi and her staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. My son’s fiancé didn’t want the traditional diamond engagement ring. He was able to order a wedding set and Farmer’s was able to get sapphires for him to pick from. This was all done in less than a week and his fiancé LOVES her ring! Great customer service and impeccable quality!
