Physical injuries, health issues, serious illnesses, and mental illnesses can significantly affect a person's ability to care for themselves and provide for their own needs. Fortunately, those who suffer from these types of impairments may be able to receive disability benefits through Social Security.
Services
Social Security disability benefits are available to qualifying individuals who are not able to perform "substantial" work due to disability. However, actually getting those benefits is not always easy. If you are stuck in a difficult legal issue involving Social Security disability insurance, it's important that you obtain assistance from a qualified legal professional.
Founding partners Catherine Coats and Robert Todd have practiced since 1992 and 1991, respectively. Both have served as president of the Dallas Association of Social Security Claimants Attorneys and are active in the National Association of Social Security Claimants Representatives (NOSSCR).

With 60 years of combined experience in this area of the law, our lawyers have handled thousands of Social Security Disability cases on behalf of clients across Texas. We have extensive experience with mental illness claims and a record of success in all claims, including dire need cases and hard-to-prove claims such as pain disorders and back injuries.
Christopher Lawrence Coats is a second-generation attorney and native Texan. Christopher earned his bachelor's degree at DePauw University, where he studied political science and majored in philosophy. After graduating from DePauw, Christopher enrolled in Fort Worth's Texas A&M School of Law (formerly Wesleyan School of Law).
Jason Blair is a relatively recent Texas transplant. Born and raised in Evansville, Indiana, Jason attended Reitz Memorial Catholic High School and then earned his English degree in Bloomington at Indiana University. After graduating, he embarked on a half-hearted attempt to become a writer. Eventually bowing to reality, he attended Widener Law School in Wilmington, Delaware.
As an individual who is disabled and has had Social Security taxes removed from your paychecks during the course of your career, you may be entitled to Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI). You have the right to request your money if a disability is preventing you from working for a minimum of one year.

What I liked about The Coats & Todd Law business was that, they were very professional, confidential, and compassionate people. There are so many words to describe my experience with the business. They are very honest, Provide excellent quality services, and excellent communication. Mrs. Twee Thuy was assigned to be my case worker. She took care of my paper work and requested my medical records. She showed so much concern for me while I was in pain. Mrs. Thuy guided me through the paper work and process. Mrs. Thuy checked over all of my paper work and sent it in for me. Thank you Mrs.Thuy.

Between seeing all types of doctors and 2 adults living on just my spouse's income, we could not keep our heads above water water trying to pay bills along with all kinds of medication and 2 back surgeries, anxiety and PTSD and all other types of medical issues, Coates and Todd stepped in and And helped break the cement I had been encased in for over a year. They called me, checked on me and helped me when I needed help the most. Thank you Mr Blair, for seeing me a human being. Maria

I started using Coats and Todd after I was denied disability. The staff in this office are very professional, kind, caring and always there to answer any questions you might have. They go above and beyond in taking that extra mile you may need in your disability claim. Mrs.Coats was truly a Godsend for me. She prayed for my case the morning of our court date. It was greatly appreciated and for that I was truly grateful. It's nice to have a lawyer that believes in the Power of Prayer and believes that all things are possible through God. I will definitely use them again if I ever need to. I highly

Coats and Todd kept fighting hard to get me what I deserved. They never gave up and kept me updated and informed me every step of the way through the whole process. They were professional, caring, and walked me through every step of the process. If I had questions no matter how small they answered each and every one. They also explained in terms I can understand. If I call with a question or concern they got back to me in less than 48 hours every time. I personally would recommend them to anyone needing help with social security disability. They are an amazing group of people and very honest. You

The BEST attorneys around. I thought going with a national renowned attorney was the best way to go...oh hell no. My case was wrapped up appeal after appeal for years until I finally had had enough. Then a friend told me about Coats and Todd. i had been fighting for years so I was skeptical. But from the first phone call Chtistopher Coats told me… what he could do and what he couldn't. Never beat around the bush, lied to me or avoided phone calls. He had my case wrapped up within 2 years. He got me ALL of my back pay and that's something I thought I had lost. I want to give my heartfelt

I wanted to take a moment to thank the incredible team at Coats and Todd for their successful representation of my SSDI claim. There are no words strong enough to articulate the professionalism, kindness, work ethic, and compassion of this firm. In 2018 I suffered a traumatic brain injury that took me from an incredibly successful career to a shell… of myself. I could no longer work and have had and continue to face weekly doctors appointments and more surgeries. I was terrified. When I called Coats and Todd, my experience from intake through my hearing has been an incredible blessing. Everyone

I was most impressed with the honesty of Catherine Coats. She laid all of my medical records out, the good, bad and indifferent. Honesty is a quality that I respect most in this world. To stay honest in the business of Social Security Disability is honorable, and effective. Truth always speaks loudest.

I don't ever write reviews but I have to take the time to give my thanks to Coats & Todd for the time and effort they put into my husband's social security case. Robert Todd represented us and he was amazing. My husband has been unable to work since 2011. He suffers from physical, emotional and cognitive disabilities, most of which there are no definitive tests to prove so we battled Social Security through all the stages of the process up to and including a hearing in 2014, which he lost. I had given up hope when I saw an ad for Coats & Todd and gave them a call. I was very

As i got into my 50's my body really started to break down from diabetes & very horrible diabetic neuropathy in both of my feet as well as back pain. I honestly could not work at all. I was turned down twice for disability. Catherine Coats took my case & we got to go in front of a judge to present my case. Afterwards when we left the judge, she whispered to me that " you won" I asked her how she knew that and her reply was "that she had been doing this a long time" Well, she was right! We ended up winning our case along with numerous months of back pay! I highly

I read the review of Coats and Todd posted by the individual with autism with much interest, as I also have a mental disability. I have to say my experience with Coats and Todd and with Catherine Coats was quite different from what this individual experienced. Catherine Coats did contact me personally and tell me that, because of certain factors in my case, I would have to go through several appeals to receive a disability award from Social Security, which was very discouraging to me. She was very frank, but at no time did she disparage my mental disability. As it turned out, I received a disability

I regret ever contacting Coats and Todd. Catherine Coats is one of the most unprofessional people I have ever encountered. I suffer from autism and at the advice of my doctor, I applied for SSDI. I went through the intake process with coats and todd and a few days later, received a letter from Catherine Coats insinuating that I was not disabled and did not have a case. This was even after several doctors and counselors had documented otherwise. I then sent a message to them expressing my dissatisfaction with their response and got a personal phone call from Mrs. Coats. She proceeded to go on a
