Services
I earned my master's degree in social work (MSW) at the University of Montana, where I focused on end-of-life care, bereavement, anxiety and depression, geriatrics, and existential and mindfulness-based counseling. Over the years I've counseled a diversity of people with a wide array of life challenges, including relationship problems, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, chronic pain, trauma, and life transitions.
Counseling is essentially a journey toward greater self knowledge, emotional intelligence, and mental health. The profession has come a long way since the days of "shrinks" hauling people away in straightjackets, and people no longer have to bear the stigma once associated with seeking help for emotional and mental suffering.
Mindful Mountain approaches the counseling relationship from a holistic, integrative perspective. Physical, emotional, and spiritual health all play a role in wellness, and we'll look to see which areas of your life may need attention. Just as no two people are alike, no two counseling approaches will be the same.
At Mindful Mountain, counseling is first and foremost a dynamic and collaborative relationship between therapist and client. The main purpose is to actively engage in a process of self-discovery and open inquiry into the nature of wholeness. My foundational belief is that everybody is capable of change.
Being in an intimate relationship is one of the most challenging and rewarding aspects of life. Most of us take it for granted that all we have to do to succeed at a relationship is to find the right person. Sure, relationships take work, we say, but when the going gets tough it becomes pretty tempting to question whether we're with the right person at all.

Colin helped me through a very difficult time in my life. I never thought I’d be someone seeking a counselor, but at my lowest point I did and luckily found Colin. In hindsight I think we all could benefit from a good counselor. He helped me understand the science behind my reactions, not to believe everything I think and how to create my own narrative. Most importantly he helped me understand the power of vulnerability. I’ve learned so much from Colin it’s hard to pack it all into one review. Thank you Colin!!

Working with Colin has been truly instrumental in my growth. He is masterful in his approach with a caring, safe, and supportive demeanor. Every person whom I have referred to him all state the same thing, "they are so grateful to get to work with him" I write this review with the highest recommendation!

I highly recommend Colin for individual and/or couples counseling. The mission statement on Mindful Mountain's website says the goal is to provide "compassionate, intelligent, and creative counseling," and this is exactly what my spouse and I have experienced in our sessions with Colin. Colin is empathetic and skillful, and does a good job of holding space for clients wherever they are in their journey. He responds to feedback by adapting his approach based on clients' needs, providing tools to help them move toward wholeness and healing.

Colin is hands down the best counselor I’ve ever encountered. His feedback and guidance are rooted in emotional experiences and science. He actually explains the scientific reasonings behind how people react to situations while also being 100 percent empathic to both parties (in the case of couples counseling). He provides a safe space to talk about issues and gives you the tools to do it yourself on your own at home. His counseling absolutely saved my relationship, to the point where we see him less often then we might like. We really enjoy our sessions but have less stress to talk about these

I started seeing Colin over relationship issues and have continued because I have found so much value in working with him. A big part of my sticking with Colin is I am very much in tune with his approach. I find the way he guides me and lets me do a lot of discovery on my own helps deepen my understanding of what I’m doing and learning. I also very much appreciated understanding some of the neurobiology of behavior. Colin has a very strong background in neurobiology and I find it very reassuring to learn more about this. All that is great, but the main reason I have kept going back to Colin is

Colin is a wonderful counselor. He is skilled at finding the common themes and simplifying things. He offers great insight & asks meaningful, probing questions that help me understand myself better. He is positive and real. I can be completely honest with him and I don't feel judged at all. At my appointments, he is 100% active in the conversation, not charting or looking at notes. In addition to his fabulous listening skills, he offers ideas to help me with whatever is my current issue. Because he is so good, his schedule fills up quick though... so you have to plan well ahead for appointments

Colin is a fantastic counselor. He is incredibly skillful and compassionate, and his mindfulness-based approach has been life-changing for me. I recommend his services very highly. He has truly helped me to find my way through a very difficult time. And after many years struggling with my mental health, Colin has been the first counselor I’ve ever had to really give me effective, long-term strategies and tools for coping.

Compassion, expertise, knowledge, experience, empathy and kindness make counseling with Colin an essential component of a path to overall healing and wellness. An individualized approach is always utilized as Colin has a very diverse background with trainings in a variety of methods and client needs. Colin is genuine and provides a calm and comforting environment for sessions. I couldn't give a higher recommendation of this practice for anyone considering counseling.

We were very pleased with Colin! My significant other was "turned off" to going to counseling (as many men are), but somehow Colin changed that and we were able to go and work through some major issues, including bereavement as well as anxiety and attachment. Colin taught us about the dynamics of our relationship and the "dance" (as he referred to it)we were doing and helped us change our "rhythm" so we were more in sync with one another. Colin has a sincere, caring, and understanding way of counseling and we both felt very comfortable opening up to him. I would recommend Colin highly!!

I would strongly recommend Colin to person or couple seeking an authentic and engaging therapeutic experience. Colin is extremely intelligent, adept and most importantly compassionate and kind. He has helped me through an extremely challenging part of my life, engaging me with different approaches to dealing with my issues. I am so glad and fortunate that I found him, it's really impossible to explain, but I'm grateful for it everyday.
