Completed major interior upgrades to Apostolic Christian Highland Oaks common areas and started on Resident rooms. Sold the Bode Road facility and constructed a 49-bed skilled/ intermediate care facility at 2750 W Highland Ave, our current location. Apostolic Christian Resthaven was incorporated through the proceeds of a will from a member of the Apostolic Christian Church of Elgin to care for our church family and the community.
After extensive research, planning, and building, the first Resthaven was built at 971 Bode Road in Elgin, and was licensed for 31 sheltered-care beds.

Thank you for your interest in Apostolic Christian Highland Oaks. We ask that you please complete this application as the first step to our admission process. The remaining steps include an interview with the prospective resident and/or family representative, assessment of the prospective resident by Highland Oaks staff, and completion of the Admission Application Packet.

The nursing home is still Apostolic Christian Resthaven with a doing business name of Highland Oaks - only the doing business name has changed. Apostolic Christian Resthaven's outstanding reputation for excellent care will be maintained. Yes, but a long waiting list doesn't mean a long wait. Once you are on our waiting list, we'll contact you when a bed or apartment becomes available.
Highland Oaks is a Nursing Home that provides skilled and intermediate care for 50 people (4 private rooms, 23 shared rooms). Registered and Licensed Practical Nurses provide 24/7 nursing care. Ample certified nursing assistants provide for the personal care needs of each resident. We serve a variety of homemade style meals prepared in-house for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

My mom spent time at Highland Oaks prior to her passing, and I cannot say enough good things about the facility and staff. I spent many hours keeping Mom company in her room, and every single interaction I overheard between staff and residents was kind, gentle and respectful. Every staff member is helpful, regardless of whether the current need is in their job description. All laundry is done daily, and the facility is always sparkly clean. The compassion we experienced was infinitely superior to nearly every setting we’ve encountered in life; I felt so cared for even in our initial admission

Highland Oaks is a wonderful place and far superior to any nursing home I have had contact with. It only has about 50 residents so it feels more like a home experience for your loved one. The staff and nurses go beyond expectations. One example is that, without being asked, they got a device and played classical music for my husband, which he likes, to comfort and calm him. Even though he was hard to understand, they always asked him if it was OK for them to do different things for him. They treated him with dignity. You probably wonder if I am affiliated with their church or am a friend with anyone

I first came to work at Highland Oaks as a cna in Aug 2015. I thoroughly enjoyed working there and staff made me feel like part of their family. My husband got a new job working an hour and a half away and I left Highland to pursue his career a year later. Nine months later, due to family obligations, I came back to work at Highland and was accepted back like I had never left.
Never in my life worked for a place that cares AND shows it like Highland Oaks does for their employees. From the hugs from our amazing ADON on a daily basis to the hugs and well wishes from the cleaning staff, we ALL appreciate

I have been in the healthcare field since 2005. I have worked and visited many different healthcare facilities around this area. I must say I am very impressed with the care given at Highland Oaks. The management and staff are very friendly, giving, strong, and caring people. They provide the best care to their residents that I have never witnessed anywhere else. The residents (and staff) are very lucky to live (or work) at this facility. Hands down the best around!

Both of my parents were residents at Highland Oaks. The staff there is phenomenal! They are highly skilled professionally, but more importantly, all of the staff truly cares for the residents like family from the directors to the maintenance workers. Everyone there is awesome. There is not a better place for your loved ones when they need long term skilled nursing and assisted living care. If I could rate with 10 stars I would.
