Lion Lumber was created when Sterling Lumber Company realigned resources to better serve customers in 2019. Sterling has been family-run and customer-driven ever since our 1949 founding by Gerhard Sterling.
With a large, consistent inventory of hardwood lumber we offer great value on the highest quality cut-to-length lumber and lagging products available. Soldier piles are placed prior to excavation. As the excavation is advanced, lagging is placed between the soldier piles.

Lion Lumber pre-made lagging panels are made to your specifications and delivered to your jobsite so there is no cutting required. Installation is as fast as the panels can be dropped in the soldier pilings. Soldier beams and timber lagging panels in many cases will be the most economical choice for support of excavation.
Lion Lumber supplies lagging for deep foundation, mine shaft earth retention, and tunneling job sites around the country. End cuts of the lagging can be beveled to fit round wall requirements. If you need a non-standard length, we can cut it to length at any of our sawmills or manufacturing facility before delivering it to your job site.
Lion Lumber dense hardwood and softwood products are perfectly-suited for use as shipping timbers, chocks and wedges, blocking, cribbage, and more. All our shipping dunnage can be custom cut to meet your specs for product storage as well as shipment via truck, rail, and ocean vessels. Hardwood dunnage is used to separate materials to allow easier lifting with a forklift.
