Services
PEOPLES FUNERAL HOME, the first black mortuary in Marianna and Jackson County owned by blacks, was established in 1938 by Lemuel Granberry. It was on old home purchased for the use of a funeral home. Lemuel opened the funeral home on the west side of Marianna in the black community. He selected Henry G. Bryan as his funeral director.
A funeral or memorial is a customary way to recognize death and its finality. Funerals are held for the living to show respect for the dead and to help survivors begin the grief process. They also give mourners a chance to share stories, create memories, fulfill religious beliefs & customs, participate in a support system, and gather at a peaceful place during a time of confusion and uncertainty.

Family members and friends get a chance to say their goodbyes, and at the same time, they get to share strong feelings with one another. This is a very nice, friendly and professionally operated business! The staff is loving and caring. Mr. Granberry and Mrs. Long will go out of their way to make your satisfaction with their services a high priority.
