Services
Our name, Artemesia, comes from the Latin term for moxa, which is artemesia vulgaris, or common artemesia. Artemesia is a beautiful, vibrant plant that is used for moxibustion (moxa) in Chinese medicine. Essentially, the acupuncture point is stimulated with the deeply penetrating, yet gentle warmth of the artemesia herb.
Artemesia Acupuncture is a great place! The providers are all very professional and experienced, and it's a business you can count on! If you are coming for fertility or smoking cessation, please let us know; as there are additional forms. Avoid all extremes such as a big meal or vigorous exercise 4-6 hours before and 4-6 hours after your initial and all subsequent treatments.

Acupuncture is a system of healing that originated in China thousands of years ago and is based on natural laws. According to the laws of nature, life energy (Qi) flows through human beings much like rivers and streams flow through the earth. Health is the result of free-flowing Qi, and conversely, illness is the result of Qi out of balance due to blockages.

Absolutely LOVE Artemesia. Kris has been working on my back since I was six months pregnant with my first child (who is now almost two)...she couldn't have been a bigger life saver to be honest. I have had several spinal surgeries and since I started to see Kris my back has been healthier and happier than ever before. I am now expecting my second child and made sure I started seeing Kris from the beginning of the pregnancy and it's been amazing...I am so much more comfortable, have more energy and able to do activities I couldn't with my first.

The BEST in health care! I have been treated at Artemesia by Kris and Kathleen for several years now, and both are wonderful. I originally came in for a chronic condition which the medical doctors told me I'd just have to suffer with for the rest of my life, but with acupuncture and diet, I've been able to control it completely and without medication. I am now symptom free, and feel great. I now get acupuncture on a "maintenance" basis, and I've never looked or felt better. It's a soothing yet professional environment and I always leave feeling relaxed, calm and clear, like nothing else. Highly

At Artemesia Acupuncture kindness radiates from each employee. I began going to Artemesia for knee pain and Tara Bissell helped me tremendously. She listened to how the pain began and what treatments I had sought already and has done an awesome job of helping me heal. In only a few treatments my knee was so much better. I love the treatments at Artemesia Acupuncture and I always leave there feeling so healthy and relaxed.

I've been seen for two different conditions: severe pain in advance of surgery and low white blood cell count. I was much more able to handle the pain after just one visit with Kris. My white blood cell count also improved from below 2,000 to over 3,000 after one month of acupuncture. Kris is one of the most caring health care providers I've ever met. The staff is also wonderful about scheduling and sending reminders, and the ambiance alone is great therapy!

I've been seen at least once a month for the past year or so by Kris McClanahan and I must say that she is the best acupuncturist I've ever seen. She is an amazingly gentle but effective practitioner. While I've been treated for one particular chronic condition, I'm always so impressed with her skill and ability to flexibly address other issues as they emerge. She is also a kind, listening, empathic practitioner. I would highly recommend her -- and have -- to anyone who wants the best in acupuncture treatment.

Highly recommend Artemesia Acupuncture for whatever is ailing you. From the minute you walk in the door a sense of relief and relaxation takes over and you find hope again....I've spent endless hours in doctor's offices and in physical therapy for the last few years and in 3 short weeks have been relieved of pain, been able to sleep through the night, have given up soda (and stayed off), and am feeling more energized!
