The NASE was founded in 1981 to provide day-to-day support, including direct access to experts, benefits, and consolidated buying power that traditionally had been available only to large corporations. Today the NASE represents hundreds of thousands of entrepreneurs and micro-businesses, and is the largest nonprofit, nonpartisan association of its kind in the United States.

The NASE has staff in Irving, Texas and Washington, D.C. working day-in and day-out for micro-business owners. Our efforts are headed up by a dedicated board of directors, all with small-business experience. The board sets all policy and determines the direction of the association. A physician with 36 years experience, Dr. Crowder specializes in ophthalmology. He has held various leadership roles in the medical community, including director of an emergency room, chief of staff of a community hospital, and positions on the board of a foundation and eye surgery center. Keith was born and raised in Dallas, Texas and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1981.
