Student Services Moving and Storage Company was started in 1973 by college students working while they attended the University of Virginia. Their idea of a business supplying general labor while enabling college students to earn money for their tuition has evolved into the company as we know it today; a full-service household goods mover offering nationwide service.
The American Moving & Storage Association (AMSA), a nonprofit trade group, is the only national association for the full-service, professional moving and storage industry. They represent more than 4,000 companies across the United States and internationally, including suppliers and affiliates. Their members include interstate, local and international moving and storage companies and state moving associations.
Local moves are typically performed at an hourly rate for the number of men and the truck. These rates are charged from the time the movers leave our office until the time they return. Although there are extra charges for large items such as a piano, pool table or hot tub, typical local moves are simply done by the hour.
Student Services Moving and Storage Company offers exclusive use of our vehicles and direct delivery to your new home, seven days a week. This means that your things are the only items on the truck at one time, the movers that load your belongings will be the same crew that delivers the load, and that you will have guaranteed dates of pickup and delivery.

Student Services Moving & Storage moved furniture from my mother's house to a storage facility in Charlottesville. Dennis and Cory were great - very professional, knowledgeable about how to move the more delicate antiques, strong(!) and fun to spend the day with. Our local move with Student Services exceeded all expectations. Every step of the way, from planning the move all the way thru to the follow up after the move, we were treated with the utmost professionalism, respect, and consideration. We were updated at every step with detailed and thoughtful information. The moving crew was prompt, polite, patient, and extremely efficient. Moving, even locally, can be very stressful but with Student Services we were in great hands and am thankful for such a great experience. Would highly recommend!

Dennis’ moving team was professional and caring. When they heard my dog was upset with the move, each of them made sure to talk to her and touch her. They didn’t get upset when I asked them to move a piece multiple times. Considerate, kind, helpful ... I can’t say enough. I have used them before and I will use them again. Outstanding!!

I had a terrible experience with Smooth Move movers the last time I moved. It was so bad, it made me think all movers would be terrible so I was prepared for the worst. However, Student Services were great to work with from the first point of contact. They were easy to reach, responsive, and clear in scheduling the move. On the day of the move, they sent an extremely efficient three-person crew who wrapped my furniture without being asked and handled it with as much care as if they were handling their own things. I commend Mitchell, Taio, and Kennedy for being punctual, professional, and conscientious
