Ten cozy, vintage cottages with many modern conveniences, on beautiful grounds, away from the hustle and bustle of downtown. A bit of Americana located just minutes from charming Frankfort, picturesque Lake Michigan and Crystal Lake beaches, as well as the scenic Betsie River. A short walk through the meadow and down the stairs brings you to the most beautiful, deserted Lake Michigan beach for walking along the shoreline.
Beaches for sunbathing are a short 3-mile drive north. In our fast-paced and ever-changing world, the Wayfarer remains a peaceful spot that has been a favorite for families, couples, and anglers for decades. Our location, 2 miles south of Frankfort, makes us the perfect place to stay and play as well as venture out for the day.

Services
Nestled on 11 beautiful acres and circled by rolling hills, our cottages offer quiet, comfort, and scenic surroundings - a perfect place to get away from it all. We are located within walking distance to picturesque Lake Michigan, surrounded by an abundance of local attractions, including Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, named the "Most Beautiful Place In America" by Good Morning America in 2012.
Included in your rental are linens, plenty of bath towels, coffee maker, books, radio alarm clock, and 29 flat screen TV with more than 50 cable channels and remote control. Six of our cottages have kitchens, which are completely stocked with dishes, pots and pans, refrigerators, stoves with ovens, toasters, coffee makers, teapots; everything except your "favorite frying pan."
Come, stay and relax. What we offer you is space, comfortable seating everywhere for whiling away the afternoon, reading a good book or the newspaper, sipping some iced tea in the sunshine, or get together with other guests for a chat. We have a beautiful, wild meadow with a fire pit behind the cottages, where you roast hot dogs and make S'mores after a long day at the sandy beaches.

A vacation spot isn't just the buildings- Wayfarer is all about Iris and her incredible hospitality- this is my 3rd? time here and each time I can't wait to return. The establishment is 100 years old - please don't expect a new "tiny house" vibe etc. There is wifi but you should be out enjoying what the Benzie, Leelenau and surrounding counties have to offer. Close enough to Frankfort for a quick grocery run or dinner but far enough that the crowds aren't here. I could go in and on but would be repeating what other great reviews have posted

OMG, this place was outstanding!! The owners are great, the property is maintained and kept up. My room was awesome, I stayed in the GoldFinch room and it was peaceful. I was here for a wedding but I will be coming back for vacation!! They have a theme for each room, and I promise you will not be disappointed!

The Wayfarer lodgings are superb! It's like walking into a little fairy tale, complete with the scent of lilac bushes, whimsical little cottages and chickens. The stairs leading to the beach are under construction but the beach is a short 4 minutes drive away, passing the adorable town of Frankfurt. The Wayfarer lodgings are a great getaway for anyone who needs to relax, enjoy nature or enjoy the West Michigan lake culture. 🐓💙

My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary. What a quaint and lovely place! The location is wonderful because it is within distance of a bunch of amazing things to do whether you're looking for a small town feel or traveling an hour north to Traverse City.
Iris & Mike were kind, responsive, knowledgeable and Iris even gave us some cherries since we were looking to have some from the area. The cottage is clean and comfortable. We spent a lot of time exploring the area so we didn't have much time on the property but there are benches to hang out on and open space to play/relax in. The cottages

The owners were a pleasure to communicate with! We stayed in #10 and loved the decor and was impressed with how CLEAN it was! Loved the vintage kitchen set and other touches throughout. Mike provided us with brochures of the local attractions and gave a solid lay of the land 🤓 We enjoyed lots of activity at the local nature preserves and also spent plenty of time at Elberta beach soaking in the sun. The attached picture is from the Grace rd viewing platform which is walkable from their well maintained paths at Wayfarer.
