If you have been referred for a diagnostic audiologic evaluation, it means that your hearing needs to be further examined. A diagnostic audiologic evaluation may be indicated for individuals who did not pass an initial hearing screening. The evaluation is done to determine if a hearing loss is present and, if so, to detail the type and severity of the hearing loss.
There are several steps that are part of a hearing aid evaluation. If you suspect that you might need a hearing aid, you will first need to have a hearing evaluation. At the time of the hearing evaluation, a case history will be taken to determine how much your hearing problem impacts your day-to-day life as well as the lives of your family.
Once you have selected your hearing aids after an evaluation, your hearing professional will program them, based on a prescription, to meet your hearing needs. This appointment will generally take at least one hour, possibly more, so ensure you allot enough time. It is also a good idea to bring a family member or close friend to the hearing aid fitting so they can help remember all the information that is given and be a support to you.

When the need to have an audiological consultation and hearing aids became evident, I chose the Soundgate Hearing Clinic from the many options available in the twin cities. I did this not only because of its convenient location, but mostly because it offered the services of a doctor in audiology. The superb experience I have had has proven me right. Friendly, knowledgeable and generally excellent staff. Well equipped. Dr. Sarah really knows her stuff. I'm not easily pleased, but she's done it! First time hearing aid owner who has tried several makes and models (including other clinics). Sarah figured out what I needed (and wanted), and set me up with the latest and best device and smartphone interface. It all works!

I have had a great experience here. Dr Sarah has been extremely helpful in helping me get the best hearing aids for me. I am only 53, but finally broke down and got hearing aids when I put it off for years. Dr Sarah was very understanding in finding what worked best to help my hearing, but also be less noticeable. I ended up with Widex brand that go behind the ears and they are great. Such a difference especially in social situations, and I often forget i have them in. I have only had them about 1 month, but glad I made the decision.

The staff were very welcoming. Audiologist Sarah was amazing, spending as much time as needed during testing and the ultimate fine-tuning of my new hearing aids.
