My name is Amanda McDermott and I am a Personal Fitness Trainer and Specialist in Fitness Nutrition based in the Los Angeles area. I received my certifications from the National Exercise & Sports Trainers Association and the International Sports Sciences Association respectively.
Prior to becoming a trainer and coach, I worked as a graphic designer at several leading fitness publications including Competitor, SHAPE, Muscle & Fitness and Muscle & Fitness HERS.My passion for health and fitness eventually drove me to pursue a path where I could help others realize and achieve the benefits of living a healthy lifestyle.

Making the decision to start exercising or to adjust your workout routine is a good first step. But then what? Next you need a knowledgeable trainer who is dedicated to seeing you achieve your goals. That's where I come in. Whether you are a novice or you have been exercising for a significant amount of time, I will design a training program specifically for you.
Exercise alone is not enough to get you to your health and fitness goals. Diet also plays a huge role in the way you look and feel. Although good nutrition may seem complicated, I will help to make it a part of your everyday life. The nutrition recommendations I have designed provide a clear guideline as to what, when, and how much to eat based on your individual needs.

I reached out to Amanda during a time when I was ready to make a change and get fit. I couldn't have asked for a better trainer! I have consistently been seeing her for a little over 3 months and I am more than ecstatic about how I feel. I started working with Amanda as my personal trainer during a very stressful, difficult time in my life. I was out of shape, overweight and in need of some kind of positive change. I placed my trust in her expertise; my health became first priority. A year later, I am lifting weights properly, enjoying fresh food, and running up to six miles in the hills near my home. I have been training with Amanda for almost three months now. She has changed my life! Due to some limitations from injuries, she has gone above and beyond to get creative and find work outs for me that challenge me, but do not irritate my longstanding injuries. Amanda is my best friend now. I see her twice a week that's more than I see any of my friends. She is always very pleasant, always with a bright smile. She is also pretty strict, never let me get away with any excuses not to exercise. I'm most impressed with her work ethic; she's always prepared. I started working with Amanda as my personal trainer 10 weeks before my wedding. Leading up to it, I knew that I wanted, and honestly needed, to get back to working out regularly but I could not find the motivation and I felt intimidated in the gym. Training with Amanda was so inspiring for me. I am a 62 year old female who had never done strength training and never worked with a trainer. My mode of exercise had been strictly walking in years past so needless to say I was a bit skeptical as to whether or not I could actually handle strength training. What can I say about Amanda that hasn't already been said? She is amazing and very flexible with my crazy hours. I really like the fact that she can do sessions both at my house and at the private gym she has access to in Whittier; it's super convenient for me!
Additionally, she keeps me focused on being more mindful of what I'm eating and how I should be moving; less back pain.

I truly, truly enjoy working with Amanda. I don't often write reviews but I feel strongly about this. When I first met Amanda, I wasn't particularly great at setting goals and had a hard time staying motivated.
