Dr. McAlexander was born in Seattle, WA and raised in Fremont, CA. He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from University of Puget Sound, Washington in 1984 followed by a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree (DPM) at The California College of Podiatric Medicine, San Francisco, CA in 1989. He completed his residency at Veteran's Administration Medical Center, American Lake, WA in 1989.
During the first visit, we make sure to obtain important background information, like your medical history, and give you time to get to know your doctor. We are a fragrance-free clinic. List of current prescriptions and/or over-the-counter medication, including dose and frequency. You are responsible for co-payments or charges that are not covered by your insurance.
Dr. McAlexander is available to treat foot and ankle ailments such as diabetic foot care, ingrown toenails, fungal toenails, warts and painful calluses. Our practice specializes in general foot care. Dr McAlexander is a really great doctor. He really cares about his patients and does a great job explaining and answering questions. Doc did a excellent job getting me back on my feet after a bad injury and the staff their is super cool. Thanks McAlexander for all the help. Dr. James mcalexander is a wonderful Foot and Ankle surgeon I went to him with a extremely painful foot problem Within a month-and-a-half after working with the doctor helped me find ways to help me control the pain without the use of Narcotics just common sense, and because, I asked herbal remedies... the receptionist the nurses and the doctor are extremely polite ,,and very caring,, about all of their patients. I would recommend him with the highest of honors.. the best foot surgeon that I have met in my 64 years.. if you have a serious problem and, you want to help from extremely caring doctor

I went to the clinic to get an evaluation about what to do and how to proceed in bunion care/surgery. I was greeting with the best staff. The place is clean, peaceful and the entire time I was treated with respect. Although my goal for surgery at this time is not an option, Dr. McAlexander gave me valuable information on what to do. I left feeling equipped with the knowledge needed to help my bunion situation.
I will be returning for a follow-up and I am very happy with the decision I made given what the Doctor gave me.

Dr McAlexander, he is one amazing doctor. Doc helped me with my work related injury. I couldn't have asked for a better doctor to have been recommended for my injury. My husband and I have been going to Dr. Mac Alexander on and off for 8 years. He successfully treated plantar fasciitis for my husband in both feet on separate occasions. He has done successful surgery to remove a severely ingrown toenail for my husband also. He greatly helped my back issues with orthotics and small lifts added to my one shoe. He is caring, thorough, and incredibly gifted. I would highly recommend him!

September 2019 I developed an injury to the bottom of my foot, due to nephropathy the wound was not noticed and not treated until a serious infection appeared on the top of my foot. After several trips to the ER with antibiotics they were unsure why or how the infection occurred or how to stop it. The bottom of my foot did not show signs of the injury or infection, it spread internally and developed on the top of my foot. By the end of Oct 2019 the infection was so bad I was sent back to the ER by my family Dr. with the anticipation of removing one toe but more likely two due to the massive infection

My husband was diagnosed with charcot joint disease, and we went to Dr. McAlexander for a second opinion because of his many years of experience treating charcot. We were so impressed with Dr. McAlexander and his THOROUGHNESS in his examination and assessment. He gave clear treatment options, and once the plan was decided upon, he quickly put it into motion. We left feeling extremely confident in being under Dr. McAlexander's care. Again, extremely impressed with this podiatrist and highly recommend him!

Referred to another clinic that had an appt. opening in three weeks. Called Gig Harbor Foot and Ankle, explained my painful problem and got an appt. same day. Very professional office staff, friendly. Dr. McAlexander was efficient, attentive, professional and took time to explain diagnosis and treatment options. Definitely recommended. Had my referral changed and treatment started the same day.
