The construction of the facility was made possible through a large bequest from Fred Dugan, a former Hormel treasurer, who saw a need in Austin for a retirement home that would offer beauty, purpose, and dignity to the lives of its residents, as well as quality health care services.
Today our skilled nursing facility, serving 59 residents, continues in that tradition. In 1983 and 1984, Sacred Heart's services were expanded to include an Adult Day Program and Home Health Care. These three community-based programs provide options for health care that enable individuals to remain in their own homes as long as possible and allow Sacred Heart to serve many more people in the Austin area.

Sacred Heart Assisted Living Apartments offer a number of services designed to enhance each resident's health and well-being. Our programs target a broad range of age and abilities and are designed to strengthen the individual physically as well as emotionally and to build relationships that grow. We are a full service assisted living facility and offer a variety of services.
Perhaps the day has arrived when you, your physician or family member has decided that it is time for some assistance at home. Sacred Heart Home Health Care provides assistance for individuals in the comfort of their own homes. Services are available within a fifteen (15) mile radius of Austin, seven (7) days week and our hours of operation are from 7AM-6PM.

CNA's- Full-time overnight shifts available (6:30AM-3PM)- Full-time PM shifts (3PM-11PM)- 12 hour shifts available- work Friday, Saturday and Sunday and have the following Friday, Saturday and Sunday off- flexible scheduling.
