Rob Woodman, PHD
Rob is a grounded, no nonsense practitioner. He approaches each client as a unique individual that must be addressed in a unique way. He draws on his expansive experience and training to provide a quality of care that his clients need to heal. When I first started seeing Dr. Woodman I was in a constant cycle of conflict, anxiety and loneliness.

The best way I can describe it is I would feel completely alone in a room full of friends. I always felt like I was watching conversations instead of being involved with them. The one area I held on to was that I had achieved a fair amount of success in the financial world despite my emotional shortcomings.

If being a victim of workplace abuse, suffering sexual harassment, intimidation or bullying were not enough, the consequences of reporting it can be even worse. Sometimes the victims of abuse are not believed. Just as often the victims are reporting what is already widely known and accepted about a powerful person who may have control of the company.
We know that predictable things happen to people when they get into powerful positions. The result can be abusive behavior that affects not only the person or people who are abused but the entire company. Power effects the brain of any person in a power position. Power impairs a specific neural process called "mirroring" that may be a cornerstone of empathy.
Before the press catches wind of it, before the board meets, as soon as the investigative report is filed, you can already have a plan to mitigate the consequences to your client and his company. Dacher Keltner, a psychology professor at UC Berkeley, spent 20 years doing lab and field experiments. Subjects under the influence of power, he found, acted as if they had suffered a traumatic brain injury.
Celebrities from the film industry, classical music, and sports and other industries have all recently been accused of abusive sexual behavior, harassment, intimidation, and bullying. An accusation made public is an agent's worse nightmare. Clearly, you need to mitigation strategies. The best approach to dealing with public relations is to be honest, to be contrite, to sincerely apologize and to express care and concern for the victims.
When one of the company's major assets, be it the owner, CEO, or a celebrity is accused of creating a toxic work environment, sexual harassment, intimidation, or bullying it can create for the HR professional a gut wrenching series of decisions. No matter where you turn there does not seem to be any good outcomes.
