Hudson Chimney
Hudson Chimney is located in Middleburg, Florida and has been providing quality, full-service chimney and hearth care since 1979. Whether you're in need of a thorough sweep and inspection or a full fireplace rebuild, Hudson Chimney can help! Mark Hudson (owner and operator of Hudson Chimney) founded the company upon his graduation from the Black Magic Chimney Sweep School in 1979.

Education has always been incredibly important to Mark, which is why he went on to receive his CSIA (Chimney Safety Institute of America), ISC (Independent Safety Commission) and CDET (Certified Dryer Exhaust Technician) certifications, and to become a member of the NCSG (National Chimney Sweep Guild) and the GCSG (Georgia Chimney Sweep Guild).
Services
When most people think of Florida homes, they don't think of them having fireplaces. But plenty of us do-not only because the hearth offers warmth during the winter months but also because of the ambience and functionality a fireplace can provide.

Even though the chimneys in Florida don't tend to get as much use as those in different parts of the country, they are still vulnerable to the elements, to nesting animals, and to the dangerous build-up of creosote (a flammable, tar-like substance that lines the walls of chimneys that have gone too long uncleaned).Neglect is another of the chimney's biggest adversaries.
You probably keep most things in your home clean for aesthetic reasons, and while a clean chimney is a more attractive chimney, your chimney mostly needs to be cleaned for safety reasons. Simply put, a dirty chimney can cause a house fire. This occurs when creosote builds up on the sides of your chimney.
The Chimney Safety Institute of America is one of many national safety organizations that recommends that you have your chimney inspected annually. When inspecting your chimney, the certified chimney professionals at Hudson Chimney are looking for many things. We look for oil soot or wood residue-both flammable substances that can cause blockages-while also checking for moisture or water damage that can cause chimney deterioration.
Your chimney serves an immeasurably important purpose: it safely carries dangerous gases out of your fireplace, wood stove or furnace and, thus, out of your house. Because the majority of the chimney is hidden from view, only a chimney professional can tell for certain whether or not your chimney is functioning safely and efficiently.
The majority of the chimney's parts are hidden from sight. However, much of the chimney's masonry is very much visible. That means it's usually relatively easy to diagnose and repair masonry problems-like efflorescence stains, chipping and crumbling mortar, loose bricks, leaks or leaning chimneys. However, when damage is visible to the naked eye, it generally means that the damage that is unseen is in an advanced stage.

Extremely overpriced for the work they did. Checked my chimney (which had never been used by the previous owner). Caulked top of fireplace cap on roof. Cleaned dryer vent. $650 for 1 hours work.
They wanted to come back to attach dryer vent and caulk around fireplace for another $500.

The response was amazingly fast-came over the same day I called! Had on their van what we needed for repair (our chimney cap had blown off with a recent severe wind storm). Had the cap replaced, paid for and they were gone within an hour! The two young men were professional and worked quickly!
Thanks!

Beware of Hudson Chimney https://hudsonchimney.com/ ! Mr. Hudson will lull you in with promises of expertise and great service on the phone, but then ask you to please sign up through their website to be scheduled as it is the "easiest way to get scheduled." The website forces you to click on/agree to a $125 service call before you can just send in the request to be contacted. That should have been the first clue, but I am apparently a fool who assumes everyone will be fair about their charges and fees; after all I just wanted the damaged cap repaired or replaced and an assessment of
