The following is a guide to help you understand your options regarding what to do when someone dies in California:. In the case of an unexpected death by accident, suicide or sudden death at home, the police must be informed. Do not touch or move the body. The police will notify the coroner who will remove the body to the coroner's office for autopsy.
If death occurs in the ICU or if life-support is scheduled to be withdrawn, a family may choose to partake in a simple closing ritual and goodbye ceremony at the bedside. Our Final Farewell allows family members time to say goodbye, offer prayers, and to anoint and shroud the body right there in the hospital.

Although difficult to imagine, studies prove that holding and caring for your baby will assist you in integrating the tremendous loss and begin the grieving process.
A full body burial at-Sea is carried out in approved federal waters 6 miles from shore at a depth of 600 - 2000 feet. The un-embalmed body is buried in either a metal casket or wrapped in a natural 100% Biodegradable custom sailcloth shroud and weighted with 160 lbs of pebble stone ballast. Located in Los Angeles County, we service the entire Southern Pacific Coast of California.

Sacred Crossings handled the celebration and burial of a dear family member of mine. The setting was utterly glorious, and the accompanying rituals were spiritually fulfilling to everyone, no matter their personal beliefs. The staff were authentically kind and sympathetic, sensitive to the needs of all who attended. Most importantly, everything about the experience rang true to my beautiful cousin. I cannot imagine a more peaceful and perfect way to celebrate a life!

When I got the call from an investigator telling me my father had passed I remember picking out the clothes I'd wear to identify his body. Before I reached the area of the home he had passed in I was told by the police I had to choose a mortuary. All I could think to do was google "green burial" and I found Sacred Crossings. Olivia answered the phone and handled everything beautifully. One of the things she said to do while waiting for transport was the sit with my father and she told me it was a sacred time. Olivia is a magnificently sweet and wonderful spirit. I don't even have words to express how grateful I am to her for her kindness in what is the darkest and hardest time in my life. She knew exactly what to say, how to be, and just had a presence that was exactly what we needed. She helped us with several small things, after receiving cremation from abroad. I truly don't know what we would have done without her. It's one of those times that "thank you" is just incredibly inadequate. Her help and kindness is so profound.

My brother-in-law was under hospice care at my sister's home when he passed away much sooner than expected. Sacred Crossings came to our home on very short notice and graciously provided the most nurturing care imaginable. We washed and dressed the body, and decorated the hospice bed into a beautiful altar, which completely transformed the living room and our experience of Doug's passing into a sacred experience. Good Morning, afternoon and evening to all! Truly amazing in all sense of the word. In searching for a funeral officiant, Olivia was the first and last person I spoke with. I knew from her energy in her voice when I spoke with her, that she was the one who would help send my mom off in style. When we met for the first time, it was the same. Sacred Crossings prepared a ceremony for a loved one's burial. The ceremony was full of heart and soul. It was the most thoughtful and spirit-filled burial ceremony I have ever attended.
