Riptides Seafood Restaurant

I've heard so many great things about this place for years & I only live a few minutes away so I finally decided to give it a try.

I ordered a fish sandwich with fries & hush puppies to go. The customer service was great over the phone & in person. However, I wasn't very impressed by the food I ordered. The fries lacked seasoning & the hush puppies were so so. The fried fish sandwich was decent & only comes with lettuce & tomato. Maybe a special sauce would've made the sandwich really good.

Maybe I'll try another day & order something else off

Atmosphere is amazing, staff is amazing and the food is delicious. Loved that the waiter was knowledgeable about their menu and specials and honestly gave us some wonderful recommendations, stuff I never thought of trying or even thought I would like was amazing. This place has become a favorite of mine that i eat at regularly now

Ordered takeout dinner for seven people. The order was ready quickly and the food was good. I got the crab cakes which I loved. The fish and chips were good too. There were supposed to be two orders of fries and we got a bunch of fries in one container so either an order was missed or all of them were together. When something like this is the worst part of the experience, there's clearly little to complain about. Overall very enjoyable and easy ordering process (called it in over the phone).

Ive lived in Richmond for years now. Always heard about Riptides but recently moved a bit closer and finally made my way there..... and I'm SO glad I did. My boyfriend started off with the oysters Rockefeller which he finished in what seemed like a matter of seconds. For cocktails, I started off with life's a beach. Great food and service each time we have been. Absolutely love the atmosphere. I wish it wasn't as packed during the dinner rush, but that's just proof that they're doing things right.

Got the special of the day and it came with two sides. The fish was seasoned pretty well although a bit to salty for my preference. Service was good and I enjoyed my time here. I came for dinner at around 5 and it was quiet. Will probably come back here for a special occasion.

Emilee, my server, set the tone for my meal!! She was super sweet, quick, and attentive!!! My food was tasty and I had one of the best bloody Mary's ever!

Driving to this place at night makes it easy to pass by but I found it. I had a taste for a crab cake sandwich and this was the closest place to offer one. We ordered a crab cake, fries, spinach, a bacon blue burger with fries and broccoli and a side of hush puppies. First, I'm disappointed that the order taker didn't tell me that hush puppies automatically came with each entree. The food was amazing. Swordfish was very yummy and delicate, as was the strawberry spinach salad. I would've given five stars, but the hush puppies were over cooked, didn't care for the seasoning on the broccoli, and worst of all were the multiple flies at our table. And we didn't sit close to the door. We told the waitress, a d they acknowledged that was a regular problem.

We have been to Riptides on several occasions and have enjoyed the cusine. The service is always exceptional. Emily served us tonight and she was highly professional, very personable and a delight.

I ordered the swordfish special and was disappointed by the wafer of fish I received that was also lacking flavor. It was so thin that it couldn't help to be overcooked. My wife's mahi mahi was also thin and over cooked. We were very disappointed by the poor quality during this visit. I will have to think twice before I return.

A message to Riptides management: You are destroying the reputation

Had Sidney as our waitress this evening and what a great experience we had! She was very attentive, had a great attitude and even though we waited an hour for our table we had everything brought out in a timely manner. All of the food was hot and delicious as well as our drinks properly made and not watered down. Riptides hasn't disappointed yet!

Liked the gator bites! The Riptide Special was delicious. The scallops, lump of crab seasoned very well. Even the black beans had nice taste. The only problem was the wait. There was a bigger party ahead of us that seemed to be the focus. Other than that, food was very good!

Great patio spot. We like to get oysters. A large selection of seafood and other good stuff!

Ehhh everyone told us to check this place out! Highly disappointed.. reminded me of red lobsters which I'm sorry has just gone down the tubes in my opinion! If you want a good seafood meal stay with bonefish.

The best things to order on the menu are the crabcake balls, coconut rice, s'mores cheesecake and bar drinks. Sadly the seafood I ordered which was the flounder did not taste fresh and was served to me in halves; first half with my entree and the second half once I started to eat. Apparently the fish split in half during cooking, although I appreciate the honesty it was strange to have a half of piece of fish plated. What a delicious meal... 5 stars primarily for the food. My party of 4 arrived dinnertime on Saturday placed our name on the list and waited, and waited and waited. 45 min later we were then seated n a small area . Ill give them the thumbs up on social distanced while dining with out mask. However it must of been the side for large groups like 10-12people. Just as we were leaving there was a large party of about 10 checking out , after cleaning immediately there was another 12 top seated at that table. The customer service was so amazing! Our server Emilee made our first time really nice she knew all the specials, constantly checked up on us (even though it was super busy), she dropped other people's food and was still so sweet and didn't let it get to her! Love her and hope to see her again. the food is also really good I would definitely recommend the steak.

The food was amazing. Definitely try the seared Sea Scallops! Best I've had in a long while. Also note worthy are the Beer Battered Onion Rings. So good.
