My Sister took me here for my Birthday while visiting in Richmond. We had a wonderful time. The crab-cakes were wonderful no filler. Tony the Chef heard it was my birthday and came to say hello. He not only wanted to know what kind of cake I liked but brought me a piece to go on the house! I am sorry I do not remember our waiters name but he too went above and beyond. Great job on his part.. It was an enjoyable evening. Thanks. Gail F.

I only went for the happy hour oysters.... I sat at the bar and there were only about 5 other people there, so service was good. The oysters were $2 each, I believe, but were very small. Overall, I enjoyed myself and would visit again for lunch or dinner.

Had a great experience for a small group dinner last night. Our service was terrific, Todd was very personable with everyone in our party. The food was wonderful. Even Chef Tony came out of the busy kitchen to check on us. Highly recommend!

We had my son’s rehearsal dinner here on 9/24 with over 70 guests. I can’t say enough good things about Ken and his staff. Things that were important to me that mattered: 1) excellent communication with us on menu and ideas 2) great set-up 3) they worked with us on within our budget and were extremely flexible / willing to work with us / and through-out the event they did fantastically well. The food was on point, and they were very accommodative to some of the guests that had dietary restrictions as well. Great job, Ken and your crew! I highly recommend them if you’re considering a gathering

Had a wonderful dinner tonight at Sam Miller’s on E. Cory St. The meal was phenomenal, especially the crab cakes. I read a review here saying they have no flavor… they are not saturated with salt so that they produce a very delicate taste. The head chef is personable and engaging and our waitress very prompt and attentive.

Unfortunately I had a bad experience. The service was slow on an empty Monday night. I order the Crab soup bowl and they brought me a cup with old crackers and a dozen oysters and they came out at the same time with the soup and for my main dish I order the Rock Fish. The presentation of the food was nicely arranged unfortunately the Fish was too salty that the only thing I could taste and the broccoli was over cook. The building and location is beautiful I just wish the food and service would be better.

My wife & I went there for our anniversary, as the restaurant has been open for 40+ years and used to be very good. The prices are $30-$40 range so we had high expectations. We were seated & got water & menus. The waiter came over & asked if we knew what we wanted. He did not bring a wine/drinks menu & didn't ask what we wanted to drink 1st. He admitted that it was his 1st night & that he did not receive any training. We had looked at the menu online, so had pretty much decided ahead of time. After a very long wait for the wine list, we ordered drinks & I asked

I hadn't been here in a long time and was excited to go again. The food was just ok, not what I remember from 10 years ago. There are many many many other places that have much better food for the price. The plus side was the waiter was super nice and attentive.

I stopped eat with my boyfriend last night as we were driving through Richmond. Since it was a Monday night this was the only restaurant open during the week and it was less than satisfactory.

The drinks that we ordered were not accurately represented and in fact did not include half of the ingredients that were stated on the menu. My drink was missing juniper berries, rosemary, elderflower tonic, and lemon juice. Instead I got a drink that consisted of grapefruit juice and soda water...I watched her make it.

For our meals we ordered a side salad, cup of their "famous crab soup",

Eh the beer was cold the Pinot was good, crab soup above average, crab cakes were just ok that I welcomed the salty overcooked asparagus. I appreciate the waitress who handled tables from the bar though service was slow . The effort to make blue cheese stuffed olives was wasted because the martini was not good. Hubby liked the triple points on Delta Sky Miles Dining. Take a picture, we won't be back

Excellent dining experience!
The establishment has a lovely decor that's been maintained very well.
The food was absolutely delicious (Southern Chicken Piccata~photo attached, Crab soup & Ocean Cobb~Sorry, I was too excited to photograph them 😊.)
There's an option of sitting in the attractive & welcoming bar lounge or the intimate dining room.
The entire staff was pleasant & accomodating.
Derek our server was PHENOMENAL! He definitely contributed to our amazing dining experience. 5 Stars!
This was our 1st visit, but it certainly won't be our last.

We had the Cosmopolitans, the classic and Manhattan drink with the oyster samplers mashed potatoes crab soup with a chicken Caesar salad. We only had light meals because we had previously eaten 1hr prior to going. However everything was still filling and really good! Our 2nd time eating here.. The 1st time was not so good maybe because it was take out but we decided to try it again... Pricy but not to bad for 2 people close to $100 including tips.. The staff was awesome and so was the owner! I will go back for dine in.. If you are visiting the area like we are you should try it.

This place...🔥🔥🔥🔥 the oysters were absolutely amazing, the crab dip some of the best I've tasted. Calamari was great, but the rockfish... WOW! To top it off, the sirloin was cooked so close to perfection that it cut with a fork! We will definitely be back!!! The bartender Derek was actually our waiter as well and he was incredible! Thanks for the great service!

We had our son's Rehearsal Dinner there and the food and service were amazing! Ken was great at helping us through the process! Everyone was quite attentive and helpful. The Warehouse room had great ambience and we could mingle and have fun in our separate room. I highly recommend Sam Miller's for events- and for dinner!

Went Friday for my birthday dinner. I wouldn't say it was a bad experience but definitely subpar. The restaurant was completely empty but our server wasn't very attentive. We ordered an appetizer and she never came back to take our actual order until she brought our appetizer. They were out of a lot of things, even working from an already limited menu. I understand some of it being out of their control due to Covid but it was frustrating for my significant other trying to order a draft beer and after five tries he just gave up. We weren't impressed by the food at all. It was only

First time to Sam Millers and long time seafood fan.

Walked in for dinner at the bar and easily grabbed two seats. The space is much larger than it looks from the outside which is great for for group parties.

Staff was friendly, but not very attentive or sharp. Ordered our drinks and were told dinner menus were on the way. They did not come. No big deal, I stood up and walked to the hostess stand to serve myself. Bartender comes back as soon as I sit down with our menus and asks if we are ready to order food and I politely said, "not yet, I've just grabbed our menus from the hostess

This was a choice set by a company I work with. As we walked in the atmosphere was nice and cozy. We we escorted to the back of the restaurant which was a lot less cozy, small and open. Dinner was very formal, 4 course meal. Our food took about an hour to arrive once ordered, with a select few available items I would have assumed the service would have been quicker.

After dinner we were offered dessert, I got cheesecake. The cheesecake was original. Not until someone asked for fruit was it offered and served from the container from the store. Not very fancy.

The food was mediocre.

I ordered the Crab Cake it was 17 it is Sam Miller's signature crab cake on a brioche bun with lettuce and house tartar sauce on the side. It wasn’t really busy at all but we had to wait like an hour for our food. They forgot the side of tartar sauce. All-in-all not too impressed. The food was okay the service was good other that the wait. I won’t be going back or recommending to my friends to go here. The sweet potato fries were really good. That’s what is keeping it at a 3 star.
