Denver Seamstress
I'll let you in on one of the best kept secrets in Denver: You've found the seamstress who values customer service as well as customer satisfaction. I've been in this business for almost four decades and have an extensive sewing background. In 1975 the National Fire Protection Agency ruled that no firefighter or emergency crew clothing could contain polyester because it melts in extreme heat.

Even fabric that contains just a percentage of polyester is dangerous in the right conditions. Polyester doesn't burn, it melts. As it melts it literally melts into the wearer's skin, making it impossible to remove without removing the skin, too. It's a derivative of petroleum (yes, that petroleum that you put in your car!) and is plastic.
Services
I was born into sewing. A Colorado native, I grew up on the western slope. My grandmother was a dressmaker and my mother sewed for our family. I learned how to make and "fix" things that included more than sewing at a very early age, and that diversification has continued to serve me well. That, and being blessed with creativity and a boundless imagination gives me the ability to solve fabric related problems on many levels.
We will lovingly replace all torn, worn and stained areas of the vintage wedding gown you have your heart set on wearing, whether it's your grandmother's, mother's, Aunt Cicily's or the one you found waiting for you tucked away in a charming little shop. Each piece is repaired when possible and replaced with an authentic looking fabric, lace or ribbons when necessary.
Unless you're a thrift shop junkie, a well made leather garment is very expensive, so knowing where to take a damaged leather garment for dependable repair can be a blessing to you and your wardrobe. Tears and rips can usually be mended so as to be virtually invisible. Zippers can sometimes be repaired or replaced if necessary and the life of your garment will be doubled.
Embroidered patches have become a significant way for us to show our individuality as well as our affiliations and the pride we take in our associations, whether on our motorcycle or bicycle gear, our hats and caps, our bags and our backpacks. The importance of patches for the members of the military and police for instant identification is increasing.
Almost any garment can be altered to fit well and clothes that fit well make you look better and can even make you look 10 - 20 pounds lighter! Next time you're getting ready to dress for "success", take a few minutes to look in a full length mirror. I know, that can be painful for some of us, but it will be worth it!

Warning: Never Hire This Woman
Kathleen agreed to complete three separate tasks for my daughter's wedding on Aug. 4: 1) collaborate with me in sewing a Temple dress 2) Alter my daughter’s wedding dress 3)Provide alterations for my personal wedding attire.
None of these projects came to fruition. My daughter’s wedding is in one week. Last week, Kathleen disclosed that she had “lost” the temple dress that I delivered to her in early March. This necessitated my purchasing new fabric, and resewing the dress this past weekend. I also relieved her of the responsibility of my own dress which

I have had many alterations with this seamstress. I have also had many repairs done there also to clothes I did not want to part with but thought ready for the garbage. She is a miracle worker! I was very surprised to see a long rant from a disgruntled client. Kathleen has always done a stellar job, and has never let me down. I highly recommend her!

I took my dress in two weeks ago to have the cups redone or taken out and my dress hemmed for my sisters wedding and it came out perfectly. The length is ideal and the cups were removed and seamed back up great :) 👌🏼

Kathleen took 8 months to do a alteration and I became busy with work and unable to pick up my sweater. I have been trying to get in touch with her now for about a month and half and have not heard back. This sweater belonged to my dad and he has passed away. I just want to pay for my sweater and get it back,. It is all I have of him.

The Denver Seamstress ruined my sisters wedding gown! My mother delivered my sister's wedding gown along with two other dresses to be worn at my sisters wedding 5 months before the wedding. Kathleen promised to have both dresses altered and delivered in plenty of time for the wedding.
On several occasions, Kathleen cancelled and rescheduled appointments for fittings after not making any progress on the alterations as promised. After confronting her on the delay, Kathleen committed to sending pictures of the progress moving forward....which she eventually refused to continue doing. It became

Just got back fiancee's wedding dress and it was STAINED in multiple locations. Kathleen has been unresponsive to what the stain was and how it got there. Wedding was 2 weeks out when we got the dress back, had to take it to cleaner and it cost us an additional $120 to clean the dress... Here is to hoping the cleaner can get the stain out...
UPDATE: Kathleen responded and refunded us the cost of the cleaning. The altering of the dress and the shirt that Kathleen did was great and we are hopeful the stains come out. We are also glad Kathleen was able to refund the cost of the cleaning.

Kathleen did a wonderful job altering however, I received my wedding dress back with a STAIN right in the center of it. When confronting Kathleen, she brushed it off and said she could get it out. It was already faint enough, it looked like she had already tried to remove it. She returned the dress and in dim light it looked like the stain was gone. When returning home and checking in natural light the stain is still there. Very faint but dead center in the dress. After going back and forth Kathleen agreed to pick up the cleaning bill. It was important to her to make sure I was satisfied.

The Denver Seamstress has altered many things for me and I've always been very, very satisfied. When I first saw same of the things she's done (wedding dresses, amazing costumes, etc) I was afraid she would be bored with my simple needs! But she's always efficient and does a great job. Call her. You'll be glad you did. She's certainly the best I've found.

I contacted Kathleen with an important and very sentimental project. I've had my grandfathers sweater for years, just hanging in the closet. He's been gone for over five years now and I wanted to give my mom a special gift for Christmas. I told Kathleen my idea of making the sweater into heart-shaped ornaments an she agreed. Kathleen reached out throughout the process to make sure I liked what she had completed and that was so reassuring. A couple weeks later, I picked up 10 handmade ornaments and my family couldn't have been happier. I would highly recommend Kathleen to anyone in

Do not use this person!! Kathleen had my wedding dress for over 5 months and did not complete the work in time for my daughters wedding. She maded excuse after excuse, cancelled appointments, and lost parts of the dress! 24 hours before the wedding, after a week of total stress, we had to take the dress to an emergency seamstress and pay hundreds of dollars extra to have it made as good as possible for the wedding, It was so badly remade that it could not be made right again.
I have written a previous Yelp review that has been removed. I am currently filing a case against her with the Better

Kathleen is a wonderful lady, but I was not impressed with her service or the end product. I brought my mother's wedding dress to her in January of 2017. After fittings that happened each month until our wedding in September of 2017, the final delivery of the dress was unsatisfactory. The seam on the front of the dress was crooked, the lace she restitched was crooked, the bra cups were not correctly placed, the seam under the breast was not complete and to top it all off, the anxiety of getting it the day before we left for our wedding was beyond explanation. She did not make the dress a priority

I have to write a review for Kathleen even though I didn't end up using her services.

I had my wedding jumpsuit altered by another seamstress in town a few weeks before my wedding. I absolutely hated how my jumpsuit looked with my shoes, so instead of panicking, I just ignored it. About a week before my wedding day, I retried on my outfitted and hated it just as much. I freaked out and messaged a bunch of seamstresses. Nobody responded to me except Kathleen. Instead of telling me how irresponsible I was for waiting until the last minute or telling me that this was impossible, she professionally

Kathleen recently hemmed a full-length evening gown for an upcoming wedding and another dress which was missing a button. Both dresses were silk-material requiring much skill and I could not do it myself. I needed a professional to not only sew the button to the one dress but to hem the full length gown and she did an amazing job. Thank you, Kathleen! Price was excellent!

I just moved to the area and needed a beautiful 1960s vintage gown transformed in a relative short period of time. Kathleen delivered and her prices are reasonable. She took a heavily sequined and beaded gown made it 2-3 sizes smaller, fixed and raised the back slit, lowered the back, and added straps. She was kind and thorough with my requests. I am so happy to have found a reliable and talented seamstress!

I was needing less than a week to get alterations done and Kathleen was definitely the right choice for the job! She was very fast at responding to my email and was able to have my dress ready for my wedding in Las Vegas. She was definitely a life saver. The dress fits perfectly!

I was in a panic because I needed a bridesmaid dress altered and back to me in 3 weeks. I knew if I took it to a bridal shop, not only would they be displeased with my timeframe, but it would cost an arm and a leg. I could not be happier that I found Kathleen!!!!

I called her first thing in the morning and explained how short of time we had. So politely she said "oh that won't be a problem." I went in that day (she works out of her studio at home), and she said it would be finished in ONE WEEK so we had time to tweak anything that needed it. It was so affordable and she splits the

I absolutely love the alterations work Kathleen did on my wedding dress!! When I first got it, it was badly in need of some work. I had explained to her what I wanted, and she gave me great suggestions, and knew I had a budget, and worked with me on all of these details, and she got my dress back to me two weeks after I brought it to her! She is an amazing lady with amazing talent and is very down to earth. I completely and totally recommend her to anyone who needs alterations or any kind of custom sewing done!
