Obesity isn't the root cause of these metabolic diseases-it is a contributing factor, but it's a symptom too. Many of the world's most common health problems are connected to metabolism. Most weight loss experts, many physicians, and all commercial weight loss programs, want to convince you that being overweight is the central problem, and that simply losing weight will eliminate all your health risks.

You may be wondering why it makes a difference to think about metabolism, and not obesity as the central risk factor for developing the serious health problems in the diagram above.

I had my bypass surgery in June, 2006. I can't believe it's been 14 years. It has changed my life for the better. Dr Quebbeman was then and continues to be a very caring and professional physician. I really "get" that his patient's care is first and foremost to him. I was a difficult case because I had a revision from a lap band to a bypass (the lap band had been installed by a doctor in San Francisco.) The lap band slipped and had damaged by stomach and I suffering from horrible reflux. He has told me since that we was worried about me because of the scar tissue

I had roux n y surgery 15 yrs,. ago by Dr. Quebbeman. I weighed 310# at my heaviest. Today I weigh 157# and very healthy. This surgery saved my life. I had very little complications, just a minor fix shortly after post op and have successfully kept my weight down. This program works if you seriously followw ALL the program! Wuld recommend the NEW Program. Safe and excellent!

As I came across this picture, it reminded me of the many angels that helped me reach my goals and the many times I modified my exercise and eating habits to meet the ever-changing goals. I would have never imagined going from a size 28 to a size 4. I also wouldn't have pictured myself being a zumba instructor, leading my own boot camps to help my friends and family reach their fitness goals, calling myself a payanx warrior, or running 5k with obstacle courses, doing camp transformation challenges, or pushing my body and achieving a fraction of what I have. Teaching others about the gradual

My best advice being a former patient is to whoever is planning to have Dr Brauverman is run.
If you can have Dr Quaberman I would highly recommend him.
Dr Brauverman was my doctor. I had a procedure done at Southern California Hospital in Culver City.
From the time I was admitted and even after, I had the worse experience ever.
I wouldn't want anyone to go through the what I went through.

I have been a patient at this program for nearly 6 years. Since Dr. Siegfried and Dr. Braverman have left it has gone WAY. Downhill. It took me 3 weeks to get through to them on the phone to make an appointment. i continuously got the answering service and left messages, but never received a return call. When I got through today I was told "Yes, we are very short staffed". This is NOT where I will continue to get my care.

I had my gastric by pass in July 2010, the surgery went well, I had no complications. I lost 117 lbs in 15 months & kept it off for 3 years, I slowly put 40 lbs back on but not due to anything wrong after my surgery, I just wasn't able to exercise as I had the 3 years prior due to having arthritis in both my knees. Dr. Braverman was awesome. I've read the reviews by the others, I'd never had any issues with the office or any one else. Recently I had gone to the ER @ Orange Coast Memorial, due to severe abdominal pain, when they saw I'd had gastric by pass they called Dr

I have been a patient since 2009, at my last visit I was VERY disappointed in the staff. The medical assistance that help me was not up to the normal professional level that I accept from this office. She told Dr. Braverman that I didn't want a particular procedure, which was a lie. I never said anything to her about my appointment.
Checking out, the front office had gone to lunch so I was unable to make an appointment plus I had to reminder them about my co-pay.
Not sure what has/is happening with the office but I am VERY disappointed. Dr. Braverman Rocks, the office staff . . . hmmmm

***UPDATE TO MY REVIEW***Since I have seen these what appeared to be money hungry Drs/surgeons, I have since lost 70 pounds, all on my own. Gym every day and dieting. I have NOT had one episode or an ounce of pain from the GALLSTONES they insisted MUST be removed immediately. I am soooo glad I didn't put myself through unnecessary surgery(s) and had enough faith and motivation to do it on my own. I really wanted to like that place and have them help me because as I mentioned they came highly recommended. BUT THEY ARE ALL ABOUT THE MONEY AND NOT HELPING PEOPLE

I had my revision surgery with Dr. Braverman and I was told all went well, I was able to eat normal and never lost weight, I was told that there is nothing more they can do for me. So after going through a major surgery and having my insurance pay for it, I get no benefit and they get paid! Its not like I can get the insurance to pay for it again. I feel like they should have offered to do something without asking me to pay for it. They are in for it for the money and its sad.

I first went to the NEW Program more than 5 years ago. I was just over 400 lbs. Dr. Braverman did my gastric bypass and I lost 175 lbs. in the first year without a single complication.
Last year I suddenly started gaining weight rapidly and found out my opening had stretched out to the point where food was draining immediately from my pouch and I never felt full. Based on my options, I elected for a BOB (Band Over Bypass). It has now been over a year and I've lost over 50 lbs. since having my band out in. I have had no issues with the band either.

Dr Braverman did a wonderful job leading up to and the surgery process. The after care with the doctors is horrible. They never can seem to answer questions yet they specialize in Bariatrics and they are disorganized with scheduling and lab work. For all the money I pay I expect better after care services. The staff is always friendly.
