We are committed to helping those who are searching for ways to alleviate emotional suffering through an approach that is informed by Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavior Therapies (CBT) and the teachings and practice of Mindfulness.

We offer Individual and Group Therapy in person and remotely through TeleMedicine - TeleHealth. We offer Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) as well as other therapy methods including: Mindfulness-Based Psychotherapy, The Gottman Method for Couples, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Exposure Therapy for Anxiety and OCD.
Services
Our team of licensed therapists are experienced in Dialectal Behavior Therapy (DBT) and other forms of counseling and psychotherapy. Lona is the Founder and Director of Princeton Center for DBT and Counseling and a DBT-Linehan Board of Certification, Certified Clinician. She has extensive training and clinical experience in providing DBT therapy as well as other cognitive, behavioral, and mindfulness-based psychotherapies.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a model of psychotherapy, developed by Marsha Linehan, Ph. D. at the University of Washington. It is designed to help individuals learn how to regulate intense emotions and gain control over self-defeating behaviors.

DBT has multiple clinical trials demonstrating its effectiveness by combining individual therapy with skills training and telephone coaching in between sessions to help participants build the life they desire.A consultation team supports the therapist in providing effective treatment. Skills to help us cultivate the ability to be in the present, letting go of the past or excessive worries about the future.
DBT Skills Groups are psychoeducational training groups in which skills are taught in the areas of: Mindfulness; Emotion Regulation; Distress Tolerance; and Interpersonal Effectiveness. At Princeton Center for DBT and Counseling, DBT Skills Group Training can be done as part of comprehensive DBT (which includes skills training, individual DBT, and phone coaching); or as a supplement to another form of psychotherapy when appropriate.
We welcome diversity and recognize that relationship challenges are universal but also influenced by social and cultural context. The Gottman method was developed by Drs. John and Julie Gottman. It is a scientifically sound approach to helping couples, which is based on years of clinical research. The Gottman method includes a data drive assessment and treatment plan designed to identify and target a couple's specific problem areas.
At Princeton Center for DBT we recognize trauma as both single life altering events such as assault, illness or injury; as well as developmental trauma that is pervasive, occurs repeatedly throughout an individual's lifespan, and manifests as chronic anxiety, depression, relationship problems, and/or low achievement.

I was struggling with myself and felt I needed some sort of school, so my APN suggested a DPT class, like anything new I was hesitant, so I decided to do an intake and that's the first time I met Siobhan, I knew immediately she was the one that was going to get me where I needed to be in my life, it was like she knew me even though we have never met, Siobhan's love and understanding for her career as a therapist will let you uncover your fears, shamefulness and feeling you might not want to talk about, but you will feel safe, be understood, and know she is always there for you, as a client of hers

I'm reflecting on my past year and I can just say that in March I was not in a good place, I started DBT in April and I am finishing up the end of my last module. I never thought I would feel so happy and amazing in my life and I never thought that I would love myself like this again, Siobhan is amazing and so is this program.

I love this place! Lona is phenomenal, so helpful, & truly makes you feel cared about as a client. I have seen several health-care professionals over the years & while they provided a bit of relief here & there, Princeton DBT has been life-changing for me. I highly recommend this practice for greater mental health & skills that are so functional & helpful.

My experience with Princeton DBT has been positive from the start. I have been seeing Heather for more than one year now, and have attended the DBT Summer Program for College Students. Heather is perceptive, understanding, and compassionate, and has been helping me develop tools to deal with lesser struggles and more stressful situations that had come up. Her feedback and strategies help me move through the core of an issue from a very honest place. I always leave my sessions with Heather with more clarity and hope. The Summer Program was a skills group run by Lona and Jen, who were professional

I was a bit skeptical to the approach of DBT after being recommended to this practice by one of my other healthcare professionals. However, after giving it a try, I found that over time the approach of the group sessions mixed with the personal sessions I went to with Lona not only made me feel comfortable to be there, but allowed me to see improvement in my overall mental health. The skill sets and mindfulness that I have been able to acquire even over the past 4 months has allowed me to build confidence and enjoy my life in a way I have not in a long time. I would recommend anybody seriously

I have recommended the Princeton Center for DBT to friends, family and my own patients over the past 5 years. I started seeing Lona S. at that time, periodically, after only having gone to a therapist once before and having had an incredibly negative experience. I found Lona to be knowledgeable, comfortable, generous with her time, understanding and supportive. She has over the years helped me with skills to deal with several stressful situations that had come up. I can also say from direct reports from people for whom I recommended the practice, that her colleagues were also incredibly gifted

Lona is incredibly approachable, knowledgeable and very skilled. I went to her for a trauma-related issue and, using EMDR, symptoms of the trauma began to dissipate immediately and after only a few sessions, the anxiety I was feeling went from an 8 to a 0 on a 10-point scale. I have never been interested in ongoing talk therapy and this was exactly what I needed and my experience greatly exceeded expectations. Highly recommend.
