Dr. Wakil has published numerous articles related to reproductive psychiatry, chose to train at the University of North Carolina because of its specialized women's mood disorder program which had the only perinatal inpatient unit in the country, and has worked extensively with obstetrician / gynecologists, midwives, lactation consults, and doulas.

I have been a patient of Dr. Wakil for 2 years and have seen her slowly spiral down with the worst of it being this last year. She has poor reviews for a reason. She does discuss personal issues often and seems to have more ailments requiring her time off than I can list here. Its a shame because I thought she was a good psychiatrist who had quite a bit of knowledge and expertise but until she can get her personal problems worked out and learn more professionalism she is going to see her practice go down the tubes.
