Services
A psychiatrist is a physician who specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of mental illness. A psychiatrist is a physician who has completed four years of medical school and at least four years of residency training. Due to extensive medical training, a psychiatrist understands the body's functions and the complex relationship between emotional illness and other medical conditions.
If you require immediate medical attention you must call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. During office hours leave an urgent message on the office voice mail. After hours and on weekends you may contact the answering service to speak to the doctor on call. Refills are provided at appointments and only during office hours.
In order to keep our community safe I am advising any patient who has any physical signs of infection (such as fever, cough, sore throat, nausea, malaise etc) to request a phone or video appointment on doxy.me. If you wish to arrange this just call the office and speak with Pam or leave a message. If you arrive at the office and are sick you will be sent home.
The UCSD Department of Psychiatry is conducting research on depression using non-medication sleep and light therapy at home. Women ages 20-45 that are pregnant or postpartum who do not smoke, use hormonal birth control or certain prescription drugs may qualify to participate. Both depressed and nondepressed women are needed.

Both Dr. Khentigan and Pam are a delight. The appointments are a breeze and I don't feel like my head was "shrunk"

I have referred numerous patients to Dr. Khentigsn. My patients have always reported her warm and user friendly. She always calls bsck. She is a patient centered psychiatrist.

Dr. Khentigan has been my psychiatrist for about 8 years. She is very intuitive and gives good advice.

I do agree somewhat with the other Yelp review that she is somewhat clinical. That is the best type of psychiatrist. She is not uncompassionate though. I have been to other psychiatrists that were practically in tears during my therapy session. I go to a psychiatrist for advice. Not empathy.

I was extremely disappointed with Dr. Khentigan. I came to her with severe Post Partum depression with a complete inability to sleep way beyond what is typical for a new mother and was told " well that is just the way that is for new moms." I found her to not be empathic or warm. I decompensated dramatically under her care, which could have been prevented. Plus, she charges approximately $30 to just phone in a prescription. I have never heard of a physician charging you! I went to another psychiatrist who was able to appropriately diagnose and treat me and I felt dramatically better

Dr. Khentigan is very clinical. If you are looking for someone with empathy and caring this is not the doc you want to see. She also gave unsolicited career advice. Thank God I finally fired her and found a good doc. I spoke with a family doc later and this person shared that she is not someone he would have recommended as he worked with her previously and she was awful.
