Jim's career in land development and sales started in Cape Coral, Florida, as well as in Illinois, Indiana, and Iowa. Jim was active in real estate sales in Lakes of the Four Seasons in Indiana. Years following, Jim had a successful management career with Boise Cascade Land Development Corp., namely with Treasure Lakes & Golf Course in Dubois, PA and Georgia.

The Clow family's original residence on Clow Creek Farm was built in the 1840s. The one-and- and-a-half story home was made out of rough-cut limestone. The family used the top floor as a residence and kept cattle and livestock on the ground floor. Eventually the Clow family built a separate barn for livestock.
