Shala is the best of the best! I went to Shala for the first time for my headshots 3 years ago and when it was time to build my branding strategy I knew she was the woman to get the job done. Have had my headshots taken twice by Shala and I will go back. Working with her is fast, fun and easy. And the shots are amazing. Her eye and style are perfect. I'm not always excited about getting my pics taken but with Shala it's a totally different experience. I always come out feeling seen by both her and the camera. Refer her all the time. As I was starting my own marketing consulting business in 2019, I knew I'd need some professional headshots to go onto my website. As an engaged member of the Silver Spring, MD community, I reached out to friends and neighbors about where to get a headshot. Shala was recommended by several folks and is here right Downtown Silver Spring.
I was so nervous, I am not the type of person to sit down and look stoic in pictures, I don't really like pictures of me...I'm not even a fan of my wedding pictures because I smile and giggle way too much. Shala instantly noticed

I know Shala to be an amazing entrepreneur. Prior to my shoot, I saw some of her incredible photography on Facebook, so I expected great shots. Although I must admit I was a little apprehensive/intimidated because does anyone really want to be in front of the camera solo? I am NOT a great model, I'm terrible at being "natural" versus "posed", and I've gained a significant amount of weight. I decided it was finally time to get a real headshot to replace the selfies I'd been using for various profiles and conferences. Besides them not looking pro-fresh, I had changed my look pretty dramatically in the previous year and wanted a great picture to capture the "real me." There were no do-overs available for my engagement photos on October 19th, 2017. I deployed to Afghanistan the next day. I just talked to my future father in law the day before. Photos are not favorite thing. I'm the one taking pictures of others. Things happen in life and suddenly I needed a quality photo(no easy task) Shala was accommodating , supportive ,warm and welcoming . She did an amazing professional job, made what I thought was to be a stressful appointment relaxed and easy. She helped me "find my fun" . She photographed my father's military burial with full honors at Arlington National Cemetery. Although that's not her usual type of work, she took on the job and exuded patience and kindness throughout the process. She willingly squished into our car--from which she captured amazing images--for a short drive to a certain point and then jumped out where the honor guard had assembled. She proceeded to take photos of everything I wanted. At times, it seemed she had ESP.

Shala Graham is an excellent photographer! She is very easy to work with and fast. Once I made initial contact, I was very impressed by her immediate follow up to schedule an appointment and use of technology. I felt very comfortable working with Shala; I shared with her that I hate taking photos and she said we will have to change that and SHE DID!!! I had so much fun. I felt very optimistic that the photos would be great and was glad to know that there were options to buy additional pictures. When I saw the photos, my first reaction was "Wow - she kept her word---made me look good!"

I can't recommend Shala MORE! When needing to update my professional photo for work, I was not looking forward to a photo shoot. Shala met me at my apartment, made sure she was clear on exactly what I wanted and made the experience a ton of fun. I am typically not very photogenic and was shocked with how many GREAT pictures she was able to take. From tips and tricks on how to look better in my photos to her great personality that made me feel comfortable, she really was fantastic. I loved working with Shala! I've never had a headshot before and I didn't know what to expect--I was comfortable from the moment I walked in. Shala was warm, fun, and most of all a total pro. These factors combined made my session great. What I wanted most of all were pictures that looked like me--and that's what she delivered.
