Seiji "Ike" Ikemizu was born and raised in Tokunoshima, a small island located on the southern tip of Japan where fishing is a way of life. In his early 20s, Ike started his career managing restaurants for a hotel group in Tokyo, and in 1981, he was transferred to New York. Years later, Ike moved to South Florida where he worked as a sushi chef until he opened his own restaurant in downtown Miami in 1996.
