Kenji is the man. I called him to see if he could help me put my Ariel Grizzly E bike together. He came out the next day and in about an hour had it completely together. I'm handicapped and would've had a hard time doing this myself. Besides being extremely nice he is a wealth of knowledge. This could've went really bad but thanks to his help it couldn't have gone smoother. It's great having someone you can go to who's not trying to fleece you or is a complete tool.

Absolutely legend, this man is the only person who could get the rear tire of my Ninebot Kickscooter Max back on the motor. The first try got sealant all over his work station. On the second try when it finally worked, he only charged $25, we tried to pay more but he wouldn't accept. An extremely nice and humble man, who will definitely be getting a big tip next time my scooter needs a replacement.

I came into Area Cycles because of the great reviews. The great reviews are true. I came in to have two flats fixes and he adjusted everything on both my bikes. Tightened the fenders, tightened the brakes and got my bike driving straight again. I got way more service than I paid for. I'm a big fan of Area Cycles. This is now my go-to place.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Kenji is always super helpful! My son recently took up biking, so we are definitely green when it comes to knowledge about bikes and accessories. Kenji is always willing to answer questions and help with fixes. We've had one bike tuned up as well. His prices are definitely fair as well! We are loyal customers now!

I was searching for places to let me demo a onewheel turn out Areacycles is one of the vendor. The owner Kenji has been amazing, he let me try out both onewheel XR and pint, he explained the difference between them. Since the learning curve is pretty steep he let me rented one for a week so I can see if it's right for me. Not to mention he also let me borrow his helmet for free. Awesome service! I would totally recommend Areacycles for anyone in the Bay Area.

I've been a loyal customer for almost a decade. This is the one Cyclery I trust touching any of my bikes. I bought a few BMX bikes, many parts and a few mountain bikes and have zero complaints. It is definitely a very busy shop which is a great sign. A lot of the community trust him and their work. Smaller shops are better because they know their customers and really have a great vibe and relationship with their community.
Tons of positive reviews that are very similar to what I have to say. If you're looking to make any repairs or upgrades, this is definitely the place. If you don

Kenji was so helpful to a new rider. Came in for a tune up and questions on how to improve my road bike for hills. And Kenji gave me a good run down and suggested what we can do. And didn't pay for the work till I picked up the bike, this stood out to me because in a time of COVID I'd expect that he'd want the work to be paid upfront which I was ready with card in hand but he told me this is just an estimate and I'd pay upon pick up.
And man once I was able to pick up my bike, which was held for longer due to high demand in parts which is understandable for the current situation

Because I live close to this bike shop and its a small local business, I really wanted to give it a chance. it has rave reviews, so I didn't expect to be disappointed. I called repeatedly to set up an appointment but there was no answer, even during regular business hours in early may before the owner put a sign on the door a week ago that said appointment only. I eventually physically went in to the shop and spoke with the guy who runs it. He refused to take my bike and told me I needed to email him to set up an appointment before he would even look at it to tell me what was wrong. I was ASSURED

Kenji is an honest guy and dedicated to his craft of being a bike mechanic! My rear derailleur hanger bolt was busted and it was stuck in the derailleur. I went to a nearby bike shop that is pretty popular but was basically told I need a new derailleur to be able to ride.
I decided to give this 'hole in the wall' shop a chance. Stopped by and got a really good explanation about the mechanics of rear derailleur hanger, and how the cassette and cogs work in a single speed. +++ Bonus: He is skilled at his craft and explained a workaround that would allow me to continue riding without getting

My friend was riding my bike around and hit a huge bump in the road and I needed to true my wheel. I stopped at Eden Bicycles because my bike was still rideable and I figured it would be easy to true it. After one spin of the wheel, they tried to tell me that I needed a new rim, which confused me. I would have honestly bought a new rim if they had them in stock. Luckily, I went over to Area Cycles (BTW - due to pandemic, they are only accepting appointments right now) and scheduled an appointment to come in at a later date. He took one look and spin and was able to true it in under 10 minutes.

My son had been saving up his money to buy a bicycle. He'd done his research and even called to speak to the owner Kenji to see what he had in store.
Luckily enough, he had the exact bicycle my son wanted. We made an appointment (because of COVID) and went to down to see the bicycle.
Kenji was at the store with the bike all cleaned and ready to go. My son was ecstatic and over the moon with his new bicycle.
Would definitely come back again!

Really had a nice experience at this shop purchasing an Aventon electric bike (photo attached). The purchase indeed was a nice experience from fitting to adjustments to pricing. Kenji was incredibly patient allowing me to meticulously test bike. Kenji made many fine adjustments including brake handle positioning, brake pad centering, and general fitting. There were at least 5 customers waiting and he did not rush me in the purchase. This was probably my best bike shop experience. Keep doing what you do and I wish you continued success.

I am an avid cyclist, both MTB and roadies. I ride a lot and I invest in good equipment that needs routine maintenance, adjustments, and upgrades. Some of my bikes and equipment are purchased at Area Cycles and some are not. But pretty much all of the work is done here. Kenji never pushes you to buy something you don't need or at a price that is unreasonable for what you get. He has even recommended I buy certain things from elsewhere knowing that there is a better price than he can provide. But one thing he always does is make sure my bikes work, look good, and ride the way I want them to. Because

Fast and knowledgeable service! They specialize in mountain biking. I needed a 32T RaceFace chainring immediately, and five shops were unable to help. A friend recommended Area Cycles. And yes, they had it in stock! Over the phone, Kenji said he could swap out my chainrings in “8 minutes”, but it was actually more like 5! He also quickly talked me out of the impossible idea of having a 50T cassette with my SRAM Rival 1 derailleur; a 50T would require other drivetrain changes. Will definitely return for future work on my Kona Sutra LTD.
