Before coming to the United States, Bo worked for Arnest Nelson, a Volvo dealership in Stockholm. In 1964, Bo emigrated from Stockholm with his wife Ewa and son Patric. Bo's first job in the United States was with Royal Motors in San Francisco as an Automotive Technician. As the Volvo and Saab makes became more popular in the United States, Bo saw the opportunity to open his own repair facility.

It is hard to find good mechanics now day who are honest and caring. I went to have my car fixed due to some complex electrical issue. Bob diagnosed and gave me the results which could only be fixed by VW dealer. He was very honest and caring; he did not even charge for the diagnose and during the time it took to diagnose the car, he even offer a loaner car. Thank You Bob!!!!!!

The owner failed the attitude test - I drove up to drop off car for a scheduled appointment - he glanced up briefly and motioned at me me to back up - as I sat there dumbfounded by his attitude he looked up again, then back down at his keyboard telling me to park on the street.
No greeting, no smile, no manners - so I backed out and took it to another shop further away but with some professionalism.

I was going on a road trip and had my local mechanic do a once over. He did a couple fixes and said I was good to go. 1.5 hrs into my trip my car started having serious issues. I brought it to Bo Jonsson's and he went through the car and found every issue my normal mechanic missed and found a way to bypass a part and save me $1,000. He explained everything and taught me things about my car I didn't know. He also had me bring it back again before I went back to my road trip to top off all fluids and check everything again for free. I wished I lived local so I could make this my permanent mechanic

I had my car checked by Bo before leaving for vegas few years ago. He told me I had to change my tires so I agreed. Instead of him doing the actual work, he sent the car to O'reilly's and separately charged me $50 for tire rotation. I knew it was a rip off but I let it go because I wanted to get it over with and get ready for the trip the next day. Maybe he treats asians differently given the good reviews from the white people here.

After purchasing a new BMW and getting paid for maintenance the last 4yrs at the dealer, I missed seeing Patric. Just check my 6 Yelp reviews to see why. When you find a good dentist, don't let him go. Same with a plumber, and the same with someone you'll entrust your car to. Over the years I've personally witnessed the "over and above" service he'd provided not only me but to others as well. I'm glad to report he hasn't changed. A leopard doesn't lose his spots. I'm a Saab nut and engineer, and usually do all my own work. I only say this because it's very very difficult for me to find a shop I feel I can truly trust. In the middle of a move with my family, my 900 classic sprung a power steering leak and I chose Jonsson's to help. Best possible choice, I feel very fortunate to have found this shop. Can't thank these guys enough for the great work they did on my 2008 volvo s80 with 95,000 miles. It was making a crazy vibrating, grinding sound on the front passenger side. It used to be only when idling but gradually it got worse and worse while driving. These guys are very trustworthy and let me know of other issues that I will probably want to address in the future but helped me take care of my immediate concerns first. My car is so quiet now, almost like a brand new car. I will be bringing my volvo there for any future work now. Thanks guys.

Scheduled a car inspection several days ago. I actually double checked the date and time before the day. I called them this morning before my appointment. Bo Jonsson's treated me like family. Patric could sense the problem before I mentioned anything. He said, I know that scent, you have a coolant leak somewhere yet there was not green wet trail of fluid under my vehicle. I do a lot of routine maintenance myself and when he popped the hood he could see some telltale signs Turns out it was more than a hose, but his team quickly located the culprit and replaced the oil cooler that is hidden up on top of the intake manifold where the coolant would burn off and not puddle under my Jeep. Patric was honest, straightforward, and just a solid guy for your scandi auto needs. Had a pre purchase Volvo inspection, which was incredibly thorough. He took the time to show and explain to us the issues with the car (and didn't charge us anything!). Although the car was not purchased in the end and no work was done in his shop he still gave us advice on what Volvo models and typical problems to look out for. He clearly knows and loves these breed of cars and is willing to share that knowledge and love with his customers. Wish he worked on Hondas so that I could bring my other car to him

I had a convertible problem on my 2009 BMW convertible top. BMW quoted me $2614.26 (see photos) and Bo Jonsson charged me essentially $150. They are honest and did a great job. See attached photos of the quotes and problem. BMW tried to gouge me for sure.
I said his price was essentially $150 because I only had a problem with the right side and asked them to replace the left side as it would wear

Bo Johnsson's hooked me up when NO ONE ELSE could. Two small shops I trust didn't have the necessary diagnostics tools, and the dealer was absolutely useless (unless you count overcharging me for doing nothing useful--they excelled at that). I finally managed to have it towed over to Bo Johnsson's, and after quick work on a VERY long list of problems, the car feels like a brand new vehicle! THANK YOU!!

In the past 2 weeks my car wouldn't start reliably, to the point where I didn't want to drive it anywhere. After the latest incident, I called him in a panic one morning and asked if I could bring it to him that afternoon. After some solid diagnostic work in which he asked me questions, plugged in his diagnostic laptop into my car, and walked me through the different scenarios, he figured it out, got the part from a stockiest, and had me on my way, all in 2.5 hours on a Friday afternoon. All fixed, and the cost was reasonable. Amazing.

Used to bring my Volvo there but had not been back to his shop in over 10 years since I moved to San Francisco.
Was looking at buying a car on the Peninsula and brought it by to have Patrick take a look at it.
He put it up, looked it over and gave great realistic review of the car. What should be replaced now and what you will need to be done in the near future.
Such a relief to know such a great shop is still around and I realized that the drive to San Mateo is not that far.
10 years was too long. Glad to be back with an excellent mechanic. Highly recommended!

The best auto shop I have ever been to!! No overpriced services like the dealerships, transparent customer service and just outstanding efficiency. I took in my BMW 328i 2010 for a battery change just couple weeks after getting my car serviced at the dealership. This team not only got that done quick and at a fair price, but also spotted issues that the BMW dealership didn't spot. Yet I got my car back within two days; no more waiting for a week to get my car serviced!!!

I have had 3 different cars serviced at Bo Jonsson's and each experience has been the same - EXCELLENT! Honest service for a fair price and no extra charges. Pat is a rare bird in the auto service industry in that he has an honest, common sense approach and will do what is best for you, instead of trying to inflate prices or repairs. He also provides very fast service too! He literally saved me thousands of dollars in repair bills that others wanted to charge me.

Patric helped me find a Subaru last spring and he did such a great job that I haven't had to do any repairs yet! I'm now looking for a replacement for our other car and once again Patric has been incredibly helpful. He is straightforward, honest, transparent, and most importantly -- accurate. I've brought a few Volvo XC90s for him to inspect and he has identified specific reasons why I should pass on each car. Had detailed report from this shop hours after receiving my car. Was in disbelief about oil and water pump leaks. Patric asked me to see for myself. He spent almost 2hrs showing, explaining and drawing diagram for me and my mobile mechanic. Wow what great attention detail, organization and quality information. I am very pleased.
