Perry's Cafe
Perry's Cafe was opened by Greek immigrants, Constantine "Costas" and Margaret Georgakopoulos. It was Costas' dream to create a diverse menu that offers Italian and Mexican breakfasts along with the traditional breakfast fare and serve it in large portions. Still family owned, but now operated by their daughter, Perry, the namesake of the restaurant, Perry's is also known for its loyal and hard working staff.

Many have worked there for 15 years, some for 20 years, and a few for over 25 years.
Services
We serve Italian and Mexican breakfasts along with the traditional breakfast, as well as a variety of sandwiches for lunch. Our frittatas, (fancy omelettes), are served with your choice of home fries, hash browns, or refried beans, and choice of homemade biscuit, mini blueberry loaf muffin, tortillas or toast.

If you love diner food in typical diner fashion then this is your spot. Blueberry muffin loaf was scrumptious. Everything else was over cooked, under cooked or just kinda meh. For a place that advertises itself as the best breakfast in town I was expecting to at least have my eggs cooked properly.

Great choice to have breakfast, while waiting for your fish to be processed across the street at Fisherman's Processing.

Ate at Perry's with my fellow fisherman. Each of us ordered different breakfast items. Pricing is reasonable - slightly higher than Denny's and slightly less than Marmalade Cafe.

Service was quick and they got all the orders right.

Restroom was a bit dirty during our visit though.

Great food. Disgusting bathroom only 1 urinal for the main room they have tons of money and a Hugh parking lot. Easy to knock out a wall and make the bathroom bigger.

You have to stand in pee. While some stranger from Hillcrest watches you go per 20 inches away

Disgusting

Great food though

First time here now I will be a lifetime loyal customer. I ordered huevos rancheros and honestly couldn't find one thing to complain about. It was absolutely delicious! Our waitress was so helpful and friendly. Can't wait to go back!

Truly, this place is a 3. The Mexican Frittata was pretty good--I requested a jalapeño and side of salsa, and those were great additions (but, still not too spicy). I asked for "just a little meat," and there was still a pretty good amount--the shredded beef was flavorful! The pancakes were good, but the syrup was the thickest syrup, EVER. We weren't big fans of the blueberry loaf, and the hashbrowns were almost burnt. I'll definitely stick with the breakfast potatoes, for future visits...I look forward to trying some other items. Unfortunately, this place doesn't serve

Food is always great...hostess with a horrible attitude that greets you. It seems as if COVID made people lose their sense of customer service.

Frittatas! Let's just get to that right away. Such a rarity on a menu and let me tell you, it was a tough choice. Zucchini Frittata & Spinach Frittata were ordered. Both were great! Very homemade tasting. They are way too generous with cheese, so if you don't love it ask for less. It comes with two styles to choose from: A) potatoes and your choice of breads (go with the blueberry loaf)! or B) Mexican style with beans and rice. Expert service & our waitress was very patient with us newcomers.

This is a coffee shop of all coffee shops in an industrial area of San Diego

My family has been coming here for years, The breakfast is always yummy and such a hefty portion. The weekends are the best even though it’s their busiest time. The waitresses are very nice & no matter how big your party is they move with the speed of lightning! It’s very rustic mom and pop diner and we keep it a family tradition to keep coming back.

Great place to eat! Fast, friendly service, large portions, and the food is outstanding! We're in SD on vacation and we made it a point to eat breakfast here twice. Definitely see why they can boast "best breakfast in town"!

We absolutely love Perry's cafe. The portions are ridiculously big. The food and service is amazing. The waitresses hustle, they're busy and bring out syrup, salsa, ketchup, coffee, etc.
The frittatas are delicious, but bring a small army with you to eat it all. My boyfriend and I ordered French Toast with eggs and sausage. Next time we'll share a french toast plate and order an extra side of eggs.
There is usually a line in the morning to be seated, be prepared to wait, but it's worth it. Prices are reasonable.

When I used to live here in San Diego, I'd come here all the time. I also went to their El Cajon location a few times. (Apparently, the El Cajon locaion has the same name, but is no longer owned by the people who own this one. ) I was looking forward to this, as I haven't been back in like 30 years.

I got here at 9 AM on a Sunday morning, and the parking lot had quite a few vehicles, including a good number of motorcycles. (Motorcyclists know the good places to eat.) However, I was seated in only about 5 minutes. I sat at the counter, which is always fun.

The cafe wasn't too far from my hotel walking distance. Ready having a hotel next door was worried about parking but it was huge just for the restaurant. Walked in greeted immediately very family orientated restaurant staff was very nice I can assume related since the owner said so anyways seated within a minute coffee within the second menus and were given time to decide. Although we were waiting for the restroom to wash our hands it was a one person restroom so only complaint to be honest. Ordered our food came out perfect not much wait fresh as can be. Price was even great as well

Could not wait to try this San Diego institution.
Takeout not available on weekends nor holidays.
My son's favorite dining spot while on college trip.
Frittatas and Mexican specialties were excellent.
Appreciate leftovers being properly packaged.

When you are young, you can eat anything.
To me, impossible to manage portion/calories.
Even the whipped butter was delicious.
One star deducted for abbreviated hours,
busy and remote location. Get there just as it
opens to avoid crowds.

When I lived in San Diego 25+ years ago, Perry's was my favorite breakfast restaurant. I would even a half hour to be seated. Unfortunately, I was not able to get back there on any of my San Diego visits until this time.

I was thrilled that there was no wait this time, although it started to get a little crowded just as we were leaving.

I chose the spinach frittata. It was FILLED with spinach, bacon and cheese. The hash browns were perfectly crispy on both sides, just as I remembered. And the iced tea was fresh and perfect. And, the staff was attentive and friendly. My only disappointment

Fantastic! I was looking for a good classic local breakfast place and Perry's Cafe absolutely fit the bill! I had eggs over medium with crispy bacon, French toast, and a home made biscuit on the side. Everything was done just the way I like it and the serving amount was ample. My daughter had the strawberry waffle with hash browns on the side and they were excellent as well (although the strawberries may have been from frozen). Even though it was busy, the we were seated right away and the service was great! Plenty of parking too. We will be coming back!

First time enjoying this iconic cafe. Now I'm hooked, and already thinking about what to order next! When I arrived, I was greeted warmly and seated quickly. Angie was a dynamite server: friendly, attentive and provided some great recommendations.
The food was fantastic. Loved the Mexican shredded beef frittata, locally made tortillas, and fresh salsa. The refried beans were super tasty and addictive, and the portions were large enough to save for a second meal. The coffee was pleasantly strong. Perry's is great for groups and families, locals and travelers alike. Thanks for being a gem in my

Breakfast is my absolute favorite meal of the day & Perry's Cafe knows exactly how to do it! The frittata is truly amazing, flavorful, cheesy and a huge portion...perfect to share or not! LOL! My plate came with crispy hash browns (the way I like it), house-made blueberry muffin (WOW), or you can order it mexican style with beans and tortillas. We also ordered the strawberry waffle and biscuits and gravy. No complaints! I pass by this restaurant every single time when driving to the airport or Old town but never stopped in until now. Glad I did!

I've had Perry's Cafe bookmarked for a few years now! It has taken me such a long time to visit. I've passed by Perry's Cafe on the freeway many times and I was drawn by it's old school diner look. I personally love older diners, it makes me feel like the food must be great if an establishment has survived for decades. A quick search online says that Perry's has been in existence since 1985!

I finally had the chance to get breakfast here with my boyfriend two months ago. We came early on a Saturday morning and there was about a 10 minute wait before we were seated

Great breakfast/brunch spot. Huge portions. Good food. Good service. The food took a little while to come, but not to the point of annoyance. You can tell they make everything for you it's not precooked and heat up as needed. I got the spinach mushroom bacon frittata which came with hash browns and a side of homemade blueberry muffin. The whipped butter was sooo good. Definitely will go back. They have a TON of seating and were busy on a Friday afternoon. So I imagine weekends are a little crazy.
