After two months of being a student at Sound in Motion, I can definitely say that Boise got lucky.
The instructor, Heather, shows an uncommon dedication, making sure that her teaching is spot on all the time, with effort in correcting errors, posture and technique of all students, while keeping the class fun, engaged and challenging. I am amazed by how much she can teach in such short time.
Absolutely the quality studio that a growing city like Boise deserves.

Heather is one of the best instructors I've had the pleasure to learn from. She breaks down the steps in an easy to learn format and will explain different ways to fit your level. One of the few instructors that go into connection and proper muscle engagement. She teaches you to learn how to dance not just how to do a move.
Made it to the grand opening a week ago and the space was gorgeous. Love the hardwood floor and the color scheme. Everyone was super friendly.

Heather is the best instructor I've ever had!! I had been dancing for many years before i went to sound in motion (SIM). When you become a SIM dancer your dancing will feel better, be recognized, and people will want to dance with you. If you like to dance even a little, take classes at SIM and then you will become obsessed. Do yourself a favor, get off that couch and take a class.

Heather was my first dance teacher when I came back to dance after 10 years. (Not much dance experience prior either). I was soooo lucky to have found her! She loves dance and loves being a teacher. She is funny, welcoming, creates a safe environment, and doesn't shy away from talking about the awkward moments that arise when first learning how to dance. :) She is always learning and improving her own techniques as well as learning new dance styles (something you definitely want in a good instructor). I absolutely love that she focuses on learning technique and not just some fancy pattern. You

Short summary: I have been a student at SIM learning bachata and salsa for almost 2 years before it moved to Boise. So far it has been the best dance school I've been to.
The good:
1. Heather is great at explaining and teaching the foundation to successfully build your skills on top of it.
2. In addition to just teaching dance moves you get to learn how to establish proper connection with your partner to fully enjoy the dance and be able to improvise your own moves on the dance floor.
3. Heather was able to keep the classes fun and created a friendly atmosphere, which ended up developing into

Sound in Motion is a great addition to Treasure Valley Dance Community. I was introduced to them when the studio led the lesson at USA Dance Chapter #1014 Boise at their first Saturday of the month dance. They offer great introduction deals so I thought why not give them a try. I loved how everyone was accepting and helpful. It felt like a dance family from the very first lesson. There is a lot of laughter and encouragement. What I liked the most is the structure of the classes. They have different levels so you don’t feel like you are sticking out like a sore thumb. I took a couple of free lessons as part of the grand opening of "Sound in Motion" here in Boise to check the studio, the atmosphere, and most of all, the teaching style of the owner. I decided to enroll in one of the great deals that was offered that day to confirm my initial good impressions.
After a couple of weeks of attending her classes I can confidently say that Heather is an exceptional dance instructor!
She is very detail-oriented, and spends a lot of time on foundational technique. Not only does she break every move into several segments, repeating it as many times as students might

I rarely leave reviews but when I do, it's because I've discovered a true gem-- and in the case of Sound in Motion, I've found my new dance home and I couldn't be happier. Here are just a few reasons why Sound in Motion has quickly become my absolute favorite dance studio.

1- Heather, the owner, is a phenomenal teacher. I always say that being a good [dancer, choreographer, or any other professional role we take on] is different than being a good teacher. Thankfully, Heather has got both of these down! She is not only a beautiful dancer but a phenomenal teacher. She knows how

Sound in Motion is a really nice dance studio located at a Lynnwood mall. It is set up really well for lessons. There is a big studio as soon as you enter with two large mirrors and then a smaller studio in the back.

The instructors are outstanding. They have a really good method and everyone picked up the dance (in this case the bachata). It is OK to sign up if you do not have a partner because the rotate through partners often (which seems to help you learn).

They also have social events were you can practice the dances you learned.

Sound in Motion is a really nice place to learn to

Started taking classes about 2 months ago! (with VERY little salsa experience) I've had such a blast! This is owned my an amazing husband and wife team, and they are truly wonderful. Heather REALLY knows her stuff! She helps you understand what you body is suppose to be doing and really brakes it down! I've improved so much since I've started. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

Great new studio. Great instructor. Patient with whatever your ability or disability (!), Encouraging of your progress of where you were not how you compare with other dancers. Very competent instruction pays attention to everyone in the class and pushes to learn more but gives you a chance to get it to muscle memory, visual memory, auditory memory, rhythm memory, sensual memory, word memory, counting memory, whatever memory that works !

One of my favorite places to be in Lynnwood now. Amazing instructor, great space and people! I am recommending to all my friends who want to learn salsa. I have to add its a great transition from Zumba if you want to learn the "real" Latin dances! :)

I had Bachata and Dominican Bachata classes with Heather (the owner) when she was working at a different studio. Since then I've had at least three really good Bachata leads ask me where I learned. One of them (Dennis Richards, who is also a dance instructor) asked, "Where did you learn? Not here...Dominican Republic?" I consider that a compliment, but really it's a compliment to Heather's teaching style!

So, I went to the Grand Opening Salsa/Bachata party at Sound in Motion - You can't tell from the outside, but the place is HUGE! Super easy to find, easy to park
