Mice and leaking roof! There were so many mice in the building the property managers office had one run under foot while we discussed what they would do to get rid of them in my apartment. I also lived in one unit that leaked so bad when it rained water ran down the walls! These aren’t cheap apartments but they should be! I never felt like management handled anything properly but I liked the location so I stayed. Now that I left they turned me over for collection because I didn’t finish my lease, even though they rented my unit to someone else and put that in writing to me. VERY SHADY OPERATION

Great investment. Excellent HOA which attends to ALL maintenance needs on the building. Numerous revitalization projects underway with other buildings surrounding, from hotels to other condos and apartments. I have lived in other historic type condos. Beware, from my personal experience, of those warehouse properties with beautiful hardwood floors, as THEY are approx 3” thick, and your only noise barrier between you, and those in their lofted space below you. Believe me when I tell you you CAN HEAR your neighbors as if they are in the room with you.

Great place. I was skeptical before moving in, after reading a couple of negative reviews, but those were obviously contrived by selfish non-owner renters. Everyone living here is nice and considerate of noise, privacy, and cleanliness. Kudos to the janitorial staff who really keeps the place clean and smelling nice. All the negatives are contrived and untrue "about dogs"; however, for the interest of the residents they are strict about the sizes and barking....which is great!
Parking here is a GREAT AMENITY. I work during all hours of the day, and request my car 4-5 times a day. I

I've lived here for the past few months and really love it. I've lived in a few different spots in the city and so far I've got very few complaints. The washer/dryer combo is weird and doesn't do a very good job, but I guess there are pros and cons to every situation. I love the location, I love my unit, the ceilings, the appliances and the lighting. Also the pool is awesome. We can walk to everything in the quarter. They really do take good care of the building and the staff are pretty accommodating.

Living here has been great and terrible. I can never get clothes done with the useless washer/dryer combo, the apartment's interior is not what I would consider "luxury", and also the walls are so incredibly thin that you always hear your neighbors and their conversations. The location is convenient, but I would not suggest walking outside at night. There are homeless people sleeping around the building and drug dealers. On the bright side, the valet has been excellent, and the amenities are very nice to have (pool, gym, internet lounge). The employees and managers have been nice

1201 Canal is an outstanding place to live. Rooftop pool, business center, exercise facility, valet parking, and 24/7 security and concierge just to name a few of the amenities. Location is outstanding with great access to the CBD and the French Quarter. Units are well planned out with lots of granite, wood flooring and towering ceilings. Lived here about 5 years. Have a had few minor problems , but once given to the management, they were resolved quickly and to my satisfaction.

I just finished four months living here and I love this place. The location is unbeatable, walk home from the French Quarter. The valet service is wonderful. I read another review that said they wait 20 minutes for their car - that's crazy. I have never waited one minute. You text the valet 5 minutes before you want to leave - and your car is there - every time - perfectly. AND, the valet service is included in the rent. My refrigerator broke - next day I had a new one. I wound the blinds too tightly and couldn't get them down - came home from work the same day and it was fixed

If you have a dog, forget going to this place! They tell you that you can have a dog & once you've paid money & moved in, then they kick you out & tell you that they don't allow dogs over 30 lbs. The manager brags about getting condo owners kicked out for having larger dogs. That's why there prices on the condos have gone down in price so much lately. Not to mention the fact that several murders have taken place just yards away from 1201 Canal St Condos

I was a potential renter. I've left 3 messages (they never pick up the line) over the last several days. Plenty of time to call me back, but no one has bothered to do so. I wanted info even if they don't have any vacancy right now, and said so in my message. Still, no call back.
If they don't care now, why would they after I move in? So, moving on......

I've lived here for a few months and I honestly can't think of anything to complain about. The location is wonderful. It is in walking distance to the French Quarter, technically just two blocks away from it, and also close to the CBD and the Superdome. It's just far enough removed that you can enjoy the hustle and bustle of the city, but retreat to the sanctuary of your condo when you are ready for a break. The condos all have granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, wood floors, very high ceilings and beautiful, BEAUTIFUL big windows. The condo offers a lot of natural light

Beauty and the beast.
The apartment itself is everything you could want. Wood floors, granite, high ceilings, rooftop pool, gym, washer/dryer in unit, parking, and proximity to everything.
BUT, personally, I don't think its worth it. I spent a year here and won't be renewing the lease. The staff aren't friendly or helpful and honestly don't seem like the type of people I'd trust. The front desk doesn't answer the phone half the time. The "valet" sounds luxurious but its is more of a hassle than you'd realize. Expect a 15-30min wait to get your

I have been so happy to call 1201 Canal my home for the past two years. I have absolutely loved living here. The building's location is optimal: right outside of the French Quarter so you can have access to it whenever you want, without having to live right in the middle of it in case you need an escape (for the sake of being a productive individual). Any of the main spots downtown are within a reasonable walking distance, which is important as quarter parking can be quite tricky. The property is beautifully managed and always maintained in prime condition. Would highly recommend.

Excellent place to live! Street car stop right across the street! Saenger theatre right across the street as well! This makes for great entertainment opportunities as well as easy access to anywhere within the Quarter, CBD, or everywhere the streetcar takes you as well including French market, City park and cemeteries! Staff is pleasant and does everything to make living easier and comfortable! Valet is amazing and more than helpful at everything! Enjoyed living here for the last 3.5 years and will continue to!

Beautiful condos in the heart of CBD. Beautifully done, quite stylish, amazing location with breathe taking views. But,Think twice about living here. Staff is ill equipped to hand a project of this size with the calling card of being a luxury establishment. Conceirge is just a front desk attendant. People are very unprofessional. And yes, it's true the building really does smells like weed.

While on the hunt for a new place in New Orleans, I have been checking the downtown condo scene. On my walk through of the new 1201 Canal condos (formerly the Krauss Department Store building), I was both amazed and excited about the prospect of living here.
The condos are beautiful, the price is just right (starting at $160K, just SLIGHTLY more for the penthouse units).
What really grabbed me with the extras...valet parking, concierge service, wifi lobby/lounge, rooftop pool and pet access. Definitely worth a look if you are in the market for a place convenient to downtown, the french quarter
