Dennis Mock's background in sports photography allows him to capture split-second moments of joy or truly spectacular action passes of familial play, and his experience in architectural photography gives him a natural sense of composition. His self-proclaimed spontaneity and documentary spirit have earned him dozens of local and national awards from, professional photographer associations (PPSDC, PPC, PPA, WPPI) and companies (Kodak and Fuji).
We've been working with Dennis since 2007 and are continuously impressed. He has taken our engagement shots (one of which was featured in the NY Times), our wedding photos (featured in San Diego Wedding magazine), and has done five family portrait sessions. As a former sports photographer, he is a master at capturing spontaneous moments and true emotions.

Dennis has been a pleasure thus far to work with, and there is a reason why I continue to hire him for special events and photoshoot opportunities. He has an eye for detail and technique that not many other photographers seem to have, and went above and beyond to ensure he got the best shots possible. It is evident in these samples of photos he has taken of me and my family that he strives for perfection and that he will not leave any photo less-than-full potential, even if it took a little more time to get them the way they turned out. The wait was worth it nonetheless. I look forward for the

We hired Dennis to do a family photo shoot recently and are so happy we went with him. He does a great job of finding a balance between candid style photos and some traditional family
Portrait type pictures. He was really easy to communicate with, his prices are very fair, and his work is beautiful. He'll definitely be our go to photographer from now on. I Highly recommend him!

Dennis did our wedding photos, our parents, and uncle’s wedding as well. He has an amazing eye for the perfect lighting and takes amazing shots. Very professional with the pictures but also a little comedic with them as well. Great attitude, very good sense of humor. Pictures are always back to us very timely. Also creates great story boards with the pictures too. My husband and I highly recommend Dennis. We will continue to hire him for future events. Thank you Dennis for all your hard work!

Dennis was my photographer at the San Diego LDS temple and at the beach. I am in love with my photos. Dennis was prompt in all his communications and was at the temple ready to go the day of. While taking photos, Dennis did a great job with a balance of "posed" photos and candids. He was very professional and got every shot I asked for. It took a little over a week to receive my photos back. All of them were amazing and I am so happy I chose Dennis to capture the best day of my life.

Had a great experience with Dennis! He is a very professional and creative photographer! We only spent 90 minutes with him but it looks like we took the photos for the whole day because there were so many backgrounds! He has a very keen eye for angles and pay attention to detail. Very reasonably priced and very much accommodating. Very prompt but he doesn't rush you. Awesome guy! Will come back to him for other occassions!

As a former sports photographer, he is a master at capturing spontaneous moments and true emotion. He's professional, easy to work with, good with kids, and above all supremely talented. It's worth mentioning that his fees are extremely reasonable for the quality of work and he has a quick turn around time so you'll be able to see your pictures

We just had our second family photo shoot by Dennis at the La Jolla beach two weeks ago. We were visiting San Diego on vacation. What a great experience to have Dennis photograph your family. It is so natural and not as posed as I am used to - but the pictures just turn out amazing and he captures the personalities of each member so well! We are so happy to have our family beach "playtime"e documented with such beautiful photos! Everyone comments on how beautiful they are.

Having Dennis capture both our engagement photos at the beach at sunset and our entire wedding day from start to finish was truly an amazing experience. He has a way of being literally everywhere. At first we thought with a wedding of over 200 guests that we would need more than one photographer, however we were wrong. Dennis assured us that he would be ok as a single photographer and boy was he right. He captured so many special and intimate moments that it was truly mind blowing. Both myself and my wife would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for a great photographer that was fun

My family and I have used Dennis for our family pictures on three different occasions and have never been disappointed. We have used three different locations for our pictures and Dennis has a great eye for identifying where to get the good shots. With one (at first) and now two little boys, Dennis is very good at making sure the kids are having a good time. Even when one may not want to participate, Dennis does a great job of still getting some good pictures. We look forward to working with Dennis in the future. We don’t live in San Diego and we typically plan our vacation around when Dennis

Dennis Mock Photography did an amazing job at our wedding! Dennis has a great sense of humor and was super easy to work with. He is creative and has a wonderful vision of what the photos should capture. He took shots that I didn't think about having taken, and they are some of my absolute favorites. He is also great with children and very patient. Definitely would recommend Dennis Mock photography.

Loved Dennis Mock Photography! Dennis is very easy going and great to talk to. He captures life in it's moment. We had Dennis take photos of our newborn on a cool morning. Dennis was very patient and showed us how to warm up our little one for the photos. He captured amazing shots though our baby was unhappy throughout most of the session. We also had two sets of grandparents and ourselves in the photos and did an outfit change!
Photo Class: My Dad and husband took a class on natural lighting and had a great time while learning! Dennis took the time to show them details, and offered many opportunities

Dennis is an awesome photographer. He shot our wedding over ten years ago and just shot our son's baptism. His photos are very nice. He knows how to get the best shots and is very quick. We've tried other photographers over the years but they do not compare to Dennis. He is also very reliable and dependable. You cannot go wrong hiring him to photograph anything for you. He's also very tall which really helps him to get the candid shots that others cannot get.

Dennis is an amazing photographer! He shot my daughters wedding and reception on two separate days. He even took the wedding party to Balboa Park and those photos are among my favorites! Dennis is very good at getting a list of everyone and any particular groupings you would like. His attention to detail is stunning and we all have been very happy with the beautiful memories we have to treasure.

Regarding Dennis' "classes"...if you are thinking of attending one, save your money!
I purchased one of Dennis' classes through Living Social back in March for $50 and promptly signed up for a class being held on 04/27/13. Not more than two days prior to the scheduled class, I received an email from Dennis stating the class needed to be rescheduled. I informed him that I had a scheduling conflict the day he was having the makeup class and requested a refund. After not hearing from him, I followed up after awhile. At that point he mentioned a class this Saturday-06/08/13,

We attended Dennis' class in Balboa Park last Saturday, "Tell a better Story" and it was wonderful. My husdand and I took the class together, with two different SLR cameras, we sure enjoyed it! Dennis was very helpful, even went beyond the class purpose and helped us with our settings and showed us what ...not to do! Very helpful, very efficient! Thanks a lot!

I just wasn't getting the pictures I wanted. I had mentioned wanting to take a photo class and was gifted Dennis' class for my birthday. The class instructions included a suggestion to read your camera manual and I did(but not everyone did). Dennis was able to meet each of us at our individual level and my photos have greatly improved. A couple of weeks before the class I was at Balboa Park and was trying to get photos of the koi fish and I just couldn't get it. During the class we passed by the koi pond and I actually got the shot! I don't mean one of the 15 pics I took was

Dennis knows his stuff!! I took another photography class w another company and I like his class much better. We went around Balboa Park for 3 hours and shot at different spots, "telling the story". I had to change my times a few times because of my crazy schedule. He was very flexible. I thought the price I paid via Living Social was reasonable for the class.

We just completed our second annual family photo session with Dennis Mock at the beach in La Jolla. Not only was he easy going and totally willing to go in whatever direction our toddler wanted to, but the photos turned out amazing! We have literally hundreds of great shots of our family and our little one to add to last year's equally rewarding experience. He is not over the top in trying to get a specific shot or reaction, which is great when you want natural looking photos. He edited the shots very quickly and delivered them to our house on his way to a different job. He's professional

This review is for his Balboa Park class.
I bought the course through Living Social and if I had paid full price I would've rated it lower.
Dennis is very nice and takes excellent pictures himself, but I feel he's lacking a bit in his ability to communicate his techniques/tips to a class. I also felt that towards the end of the class he got tired because he left us in the same area of the park for about 45 minutes and he went and sat down on a bench. At that point I ended up just walking away from the group and the class with about 30 minutes left in the course to get shots in other

I wanted to provide an update to a previous review. I just received my wedding pictures taken by Dennis Mock and I was absolutely amazed at the final product. While reviewing the pictures, I was able to see my wedding day in action. Dennis truly told the story through his photography. There were moments that I forgot and moments I hoped he captured and he did just that.
To provide a little background on the versatility and dedication that Dennis provided, I will say this: Dennis flew to Sacramento, CA where my wedding was held and took over 1400 photographs in 106 degrees. His professionalism

This review is just for the classes that Dennis offers. As these classes are in Balboa Park; we only got to see about 15 of his prints, not his true work.
I bought a Living Social Deal, or I probably would be more disappointed. I choose the The Basics of Digital Photography class which was 2 hours. I feel that it was about 20 minutes of value, and the rest a waste of my time. On numerous occasions, and even on his website, I asked that a digital camera is okay for the class... (besides what the name says, wanted to make sure that a SLR camera was not needed). I definitely would never pay
