Founder and President Phil Joseph was the kind of kid who liked to take things apart, especially stereos. Phil had a love of both music and TV growing up, and actually majored in Mass Communication in college hoping to go into television production. While in college, Phil worked for a local electronics retailer and began going out to clients homes to hook up the new equipment they had purchased.
AVT was launched by current President and majority owner Phil Joseph in February of 1984 as The Consultants. The idea based upon recommendations by clients Phil maintained while employed by Pacific Stereo, a Bay Area audio/video retailer. In the early 80's, home entertainment was transforming from owning a TV hooked to a rooftop antenna and a "Hi-Fi" with integral speakers to multi-interconnected audio and video components.

Long over due on this review-
Having my home updated with new technology was the best decision we have made so far because I can work my ALL my home lights, garage door, music, etc to my phone and my life has been a lot easier. I'm always on the go I sometimes forget that I leave the bathroom light on, or the tv. I just grab my phone and turn it off and this actually saves me tons of money on electricity.

We had AVT come out and install a Ring-style doorbell and a Sonos system. Brandten did both installs, and things went completely smoothly and the setups were a breeze. We are now enjoying our newly secure front porch and wonderful music system throughout our house. Will definitely look to AVT again the next time we need any high-tech home audiovisual work done!

They installed a shade and lighting system in a remodeled house for me One of the shades is already stuck, they removed a motion sensor from a bathroom without checking with me, and one of the expensive lighting systems in the kitchen has no switch to turn it off or on. I've tried to get them out to fix it over several weeks, even offering to pay for maintenance time and they won't respond at all.
For such an expensive system, the follow through has been quite poor. Would not recommend.

AVT put in a system for us 3 years ago. They gave us a number of options and did not try to SELL us on the most expensive system.
Their price was fair and the installation was excellent.
Even more importantly whenever we have had questions or problems even a few years (again yesterday they were very helpful) after installation they have responded and almost always been able to help over the phone.
We have been very satisfied with our system AND the customer service.
