Our custom fabrication and historic restoration work dates back to the early 1970's. We have worked on projects from new homes and office buildings to the glass dome of the main conservatory of the Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens, to the extensive restoration of Old Fort Niagara near Youngstown, New York. Our specialty is traditional craftsmanship and a passion and respect for classical construction methods. We welcome the opportunity to work with you on your commercial or residential custom fabrication.

Our restoration process brings new life into your old windows. While not every window needs this level of restoration, yours will get the same level of attention. Many people think they are stuck with an old, dirty, dingy door and this couldn't be farther from the truth. Our door restoration process can have your curb appeal through the roof!
Wood windows were originally crafted to last forever, we take on that same philosophy. Our sash are built using traditional mortise and tenon joinery, the frames use a dado joint. Our species of choice is FSC-certified Select-grade Eastern White Pine, as it is most traditional and native to our area.

Every project starts at the lumber rack. After a rough list is calculated, pieces are sifted through for the best cuts with the least waste. Next up is the planer. This massive machine with a large cylindrical blade, takes off chunks of lumber to get the material to the correct width. The tenoner was orginally used in wood window manufacturing in the 1950's and 60's.

John and his team built new wooden windows for my 100 year old house, and installed triple pane glass. The window frames are beautiful. The installation was done perfectly. The windows are gorgeous. And- an added benefit - the house is so much warmer. I am very pleased. If you seek exceptional workmanship and quality, I highly recommend the John Gulick Window Co.

John and his crew restored 15 of my 100 year old sash windows. Brought them back to their original glory and functionality, while improving their efficiency with new weather-stripping, etc. I was happy enough with the result that I have John undertaking the restoration of my front door. Highly recommend. He's not cheap, but you don't find people that do what John does with the quality and efficiency that he does it!

We searched for years to find a construction firm that could craft curved windows to replace the large bay window in our historic home. John Gulick was a pleasure to work with throughout the process, and we love our new windows! We now have storm windows as well, a nice bonus.

John's work at window restoring and window making (fabrication) has been honored by Preservation Buffalo Niagara. He's worked on Fort Niagara, the Guaranty Building, Greycliff, the Botanical Gardens, the Darwin Martin House greenhouse, and my house.

He's dependable, trustworthy, a creative thinker, pleasant to make plans with, and responsive. He is careful but not slow. He is dedicated to restoration and to Buffalo. His workmen are obviously dedicated to him, and to the work.

He does not put new windows in. He helps you keep the old windows you have. He helps make them work, drags
