Allegro Ballet Academy was founded by Nurlan and Aygul Abougaliev to bring the excellence of Russian classical ballet to their Pittsburgh ballet studio.

Allegro Ballet Academy has skilled and qualified ballet instructors with years of experience and training. Alison is the new co-owner of Allegro Ballet Academy, and a former professional ballet dancer with Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, Banff Summer Professional Dance Company, the Sacramento Ballet, and the Hamburg Ballet.
Our students are each unique and special, and we care about every one of them and their individual needs. Each student advances at his or her own pace. I have loved training with Nurlan and Aygul, the incredible teachers at this school. I have been training with them since I was 14 and I have never been disappointed. The amount of growth I have had as a dancer has been immense. They helped me reach my goal of becoming a professional dancer and next year I will be starting the next chapter of my life as a dancer with the Fort Wayne Ballet. And it is all thanks to Allegro Ballet Academy.

I have been dancing at Allegro Ballet Academy since their inception in 2012. Nurlan and Aygul have taught me excellent dance technique, discipline, and work ethic. Nurlan and Aygul entrusted me and my fellow classmate, to work with the younger students, to share our knowledge and love of tumbling. ABA has given me so many great opportunities and I thank them for guiding me on this journey.

Aygul and Nurlan are committed to all of their students, from the smallest of beginners, to advanced pre-professional, to adults looking to get back into (or start!) ballet. This is my daughter's second year with ABA and they have far exceeded my expectations! She not only learns technique and terminology, but she is gaining an appreciation for ballet as an art form. She doesn't just learn moves to a dance from the Nutcracker or Swan Lake, but she learns about the characters and the story. She is learning how to feel the music and count beats and how to be part of an ensemble. The shows are very impressive and professionally done and the costumes are beautiful and age appropriate. I LOVE dancing at Allegro! ABA offers high-quality classes taught by world-renowned professional dancers. Expectations of students are high, but the studio environment is very friendly. ABA offers excellent performance opportunities, and the professional-quality shows feature outstanding choreography, beautiful costuming, and creative staging. We have been at Allegro Ballet for about 4 years and have loved the experience and opportunities my daughter is given there. The instructors are fabulous, the Nutcracker and spring performances are a great performing opportunity and my daughter has learned and improved immensely. Allegro Ballet Academy is a unique studio with students of all ages, training in the classical Russian technique. The owners, Nurlan and Aygul, are a dynamic couple who have trained in Russia and performed worldwide. They are also excellent choreographers who have provided us with multiple opportunities to perform. I am especially grateful to them, for their immense encouragement and patience when I returned to class after suffering a traumatic brain injury. All the instructors at ABA are excellent. I've taken classes with Nurlan, Aygul and Allie and have learned a lot from each of them.
