If you are experiencing painful swelling in the back of your foot just above the heel, you may be suffering from Achilles Tendonitis. This troublesome condition affects the Achilles tendon, which is the strongest and largest tendon in the body and connects the leg to the foot as it stretches from the lower leg to the heel bone.
Typically occurring in both feet, brachymetatarsia is a condition characterized by a short metatarsal. The foot has five metatarsals and this condition results in one shortened toe. If more than one of the long bones of the foot is affected, it is known as brachymetapody.
The causes of brachymetatarsia are genetic or situational, meaning that you can be born with it or it can be induced by premature closure in the metatarsal growth plate due to a trauma.If you suffer from brachymetatarsia, you may find it difficult to properly balance or smoothly transfer weight across the toes when walking or running.

Highly, highly, highly recommend! Dr. Theoharidis is absolutely amazing - thorough, caring, and easy to reach. He takes the time to listen and get to know his patients. My MIL has a bit of dementia so doctor appointments tend to be difficult, but he does such a great job with her. Her foot is doing great now thanks to his recommendations. We love the whole office too - it smells great and everyone is so sweet and welcoming. If you have foot problems, go here!

I am a nurse and was experiencing severe foot pain. From the moment I walked in the door, I was impressed by the positive attitude of everyone in the office. I hurt so bad that first visit and they were all so nice to me!! The front desk staff, nurse and Dr. T are all amazing. Dr. T has been able to help me get back on my feet again. Dr. Theoharidis has that combination of compassion and professionalism that is reassuring in a number of ways. He truly cares about me as a patient and as a person. He is both friendly and knowledgeable. I'm sure his affiliation with the major teaching and research facilities at the Truman Medical Center/UMKC School of Medicine serve to enhance his knowledge base invaluably. His staff members are also helpful and go out of their way to accommodate their patients. I've had occasion to interact with Dr. Davis also, and he shares Dr. Theoharidis' warmth and expertise.

My first visit was amazing. Not only was the receptionist SUPER nice on the phone ( called over 20 places today, and the others were rude/hateful) she made me feel welcomed over the phone before I got there. Once I arrived they were all super nice & helpful & friendly. Once I got into the room Dr. Theoharidis was quick to get in, he was super caring that I was pregnant & he was very educated! He gave us all options. He did his best to make the process fast & pain free. He didn’t rush & stayed and talked with us. I’ve never been treated with more care from any other doctors/ receptionist. I put off taking care of an ingrown toenail because I had such a horrible experience in Overland Park previously with another doctor. I was SO pleased with Dr Theoharidis and his staff, that I wish I would have known about them first. The staff are all very friendly and caring. When Dr Theoharidis came into the room, he introduced himself (which I have found is a lost courtesy with some doctors) and he was very friendly. When it comes to health one should use the best. In my opinion, for foot and ankle health, that would be Dr Akilis Theoharidis.
I have used no other podiatrist for at least twenty years.and I would never consider changing.
He is very well known and respected by his peers and long time patients.
He’s very gifted in explaining medical situations at the lay level and I’ve never known another doctor that cares so much about his patients; he’s 100% vested in healing.
You owe it to yourself to give Dr Theoharidis
a try personally and/or for a loved one.
