Chimney Safety Institute Of America
The Chimney Safety Institute of America (CSIA) is a nonprofit organization governed by a volunteer board of directors dedicated to the education, training, and certification of chimney and industry related professionals. Additionally, we strive to advance public awareness about the dangers of chimney fires and other problems related to the maintenance and performance of chimney and venting systems.

Since 1983, CSIA has been the industry leader in chimney and venting education. Our nationally recognized credentials include the CSIA Certified Chimney Sweep(R), CSIA Certified Dryer Exhaust Technician(R), and CSIA Master Chimney Sweep(R). CSIA believes strongly in making a positive contribution to the local community.

Attention CSIA Credential Holders: Have you created your Listings2Leads company listing yet? This new search feature has completely replaced the old system, and your action is needed. Set up your new company listing today! Finding a reliable and knowledgeable chimney and venting company can be challenging, especially since there's no industry-wide standard or regulation.
The primary job of a chimney service professional is to aid in the prevention of fires and carbon monoxide emergencies related to the use of fireplaces, wood stoves, gas, oil and coal heating systems. CSIA Certified Chimney Sweeps are trained to install, clean and maintain these systems, evaluate their performance, prescribe changes to improve their performance, and educate the consumer about their safe and efficient operation.
National Chimney Safety Week 2021 is designed to educate homeowners on the inherent dangers of fireplaces and provide them with tips to reduce their risk of suffering a chimney fire or carbon monoxide-related health emergency.

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (USCPSC), an average of 17,600 chimney fires occurred annually in the United States between 2015 and 2017, and although this represents a significant drop from previous years, the Chimney Safety Institute of America believes there's still much room for improvement.CSIA's vision is that every family enjoys a safe, warm home.
Recognizing that community representatives, property managers and HOA officers are in a unique position to affect the health and safety of numerous families, we are happy to provide a number of free resources (including newsletter-ready articles) for use as part of your overall community/HOA communication strategy.
Proper care and maintenance of your chimneys, woodstoves, and fireplaces can help protect you from unnecessary fires and carbon monoxide poisonings. We always recommend hiring a CSIA Certified Chimney Sweep(R). Does the company or individual carry a valid business liability insurance policy to protect your home and furnishings against accidents?.

I attended CSIA’s National Chimney Sweep Training School at the Plainfield Indiana for a week of training and had a great experience. I had already received my inspector’s certification through the F.I.R.E program in California. CSIA’s week training reinforced what I had l already learned and taught me a more. The hands on activates where very helpful. Joe and Jeremy were great instructors. If you are in the fireplace/chimney industry and have not been to CSIA you should.
