La Salita Restaurant
Restaurants began closing and life as we know it was very different. Although we were scared, we were confident that we would be able to face this together as a business and as a community. That became ever so apparent when one of our amazing customers offered his help, not only to us as a restaurant but to customers as well.

He donated $500 and simply requested that we give back by feeding those that were most affected by the closures as well as those at risk to leave their homes. Hence forth Operation Kindness was born. For every $10 a customer donates a meal will be given to someone in need. This act of kindness, has inspired us to keep this going indefinitely for our community.
Services
The history of La Salita Restaurant began over 40 years ago with an Armenian couple that had a passion for serving delicious food and entertaining people. They Hired a young, spirited Italian server, Cindy, who would end up taking La Salita to the next level.

Cindy learned so much about people and food from her mentors, and spent the next few decades building a restaurant that values relationships with the community and serving quality homemade New Mexican food.Yes, a young Italian woman decided that the flavors of New Mexico, paired with a nature to serve, would be the canvas for her future.
One rolled, cheese/onion, one ground beef, one sour cream, one guacamole, all topped with melted cheddar cheese. A one of a kind burrito filled with slow roasted shredded turkey & fresh sour cream wrapped in a flour tortilla & topped with swiss-American cheese. Slow roasted pork, marinated in our signature red chile spices, wrapped in a flour tortilla & topped with melted cheddar.

The wait staff are nice and the food was okay. Very salty. Guacamole was veering toward brown, and overpriced ($4 for a tiny container of it and sour cream).
Biggest issue is wait time. Order wasn’t ready until 20 minutes after it was promised. Very frustrating to be hungry and waiting in a busy lobby in the middle of a pandemic. Definitely wasn’t worth the wait.

I had high hopes for this place (based on friend's recommendation), but it underwhelmed. I had to cut my enchiladas with a knife as they were so tough. The refried beans were room temp. The flavor profile was blah at best, and the service beyond bringing your food (which you ordered at the counter when you walk in) was non-existent. That's why they want you to pay (and tip) up front.

After going in there last night I would only recommend using DD if you're going to eat here.

I walked in and realized I had to order at the counter. Okay that's fine. I then carried my tray to my table and I was noticing that it's pretty much self-service. I wasn't given silverware. Apparently I was supposed to get that myself. Nobody came to check on me but there were at least 5 employees standing at the register just chatting. They had two tables. I had to get up and get to go containers myself. The food was average. I guess what really upsets me is I gave them a really

Incredibly flavorful New Mexican food! The red and green Chile sauces are both delicious and the salsa is out of this world! We were impressed with the vegan menu and regularly go for the rellenos and tamales. Highly recommend and great customer service!

They are really busy every time we go. Lunch or dinner. The counter service is understandable due to covid. Food is great as always, but they understandably are short staffed and that makes it hard to get drink refills and after meals sopapillas. We will continue to go back though, because the menu is great.

I had not been to La Salita a while. How you order has changed. You need to review the menu and order at the cash register counter. We were given a number for our table, our drinks, and chips and salsa. The dining is spacious lay laid out where you don't feel cramped with someone at another table bumping chairs with you. The restaurant was clean and well lit. It was not noisy, which I appreciate. Nice to talk without yelling. I've gotten the Burrito Eduardo before, and I got it again. It comes with two sides. I got the rice and beans. Everything tasted great. The green chili was not too

The people are really nice. The food was just ok. Neither the red nor the green had much flavor or heat. The rice was mushy and had no flavor. The sopas tasted like they were cooked a couple of days beforehand. Unfortunately when you dine in it is pretty much all self serve. We will not be returning.

Dined there on 11-13-21 The wait was very long and my order of a pork burrito was not pork but beef with way too much chili powder. But the big problem was eight hours later I had the worst case of food poisoning in my 65 years. I was messed up for two days.

Well for starters we went in thinking it was going to be a full mexican cuisine. Only to find out when I ordered tacos they were hard shell tacos with their only meat choices as ground beef, pulled beef and turkey? Any way I mean this in the nicest way possible, I could have eaten better at taco bell for cheaper, also we ordered a couple "sopapillas" which were golden on the outside but raw dough on the inside to the point where I was able to make a ball of dough, im sorry but not worth the price or the stop.

Not Mexican takes away the feeling of what it's like to dine in at a Mexican restaurant no one speaks Spanish so I ask myself who works at a "Mexican" restaurant and can't even speak the language oh and the rice drier then a Popeyes biscuit. Mostly a lot of things were undercooked one star is being generous if you want authentic food this is not the place you want to be. If you want good food here ask for a bottle of honey the most decent thing here.

Came with a party of 6 and all of us left satisfied and remarking on how we would definitely come back. The avocados rellenos are delicious with perfectly crispy batter. You can substitute impossible meat for any dish with meat! Impossible meat tacos were bomb. Staff is super friendly and attentive.

I love the abundance of vegan options! La Salita is officially my favorite New Mexican restaurant in town. My favorites are the vegan impossible stuffed sopapilla (pictured) and avocado stuffed chile rellenos, but I cant wait to try more!

Love you La Salita, but I think you can do better than charging $3 for this old guacamole. This has happened 3 times now. I wouldn't have even accepted this for free.

Myself and another friend go and try different restaurants and look for tasty places, we found one here. As you go in, you order at the counter and then pick your table. We sat down and our food was out before you know it.
The hubby has a combo plate that was overflowing for food. I had Chile rellenos, one cheddars one avocado, which was mighty tasty! The batter is eggless, and was crispy golden brown and delish!
If you are vegan, they have selections for you. Which the avocado rellenos are part of. They are creamy nd serves with beans and rice.
The owner came around and asked how we were doing

I don't know how I never knew of this place, but I'm so glad it was recommended to me. They have an awesome vegan menu and they even have vegan cheese! I was visiting family for a week and got food from La Salita twice because it was THAT good. The vegan avocado stuffed chile rellenos (seen in the photos) were absolutely amazing. Rice, beans and potatoes on the side were all very flavorful and fresh. I also tried the Impossible Sopa which had Impossible vegan meat and that was also delicious. Makes me so happy that their sopapillas are vegan. I will definitely be eating here everytime I'm in Albuquerque

Look quick or you may miss it. They are in the corner of a small strip mall, not easily seen if you're driving north. Signage isn't much help. But we found it and parked. There weren't many cars in the lot making us wonder if they were open. People exiting answered that question. As we entered there was a counter with large menu overhead. Order 1st, sit next, wait for food delivered by an employee. Decided on the combo#1: chili rellano, cheddar & onion enchilada and a taco plate. Both orders came with rice & beans. The chili rellano came out crispy fried - refreshing change

Haven't tried this place since we were used to the same old same old but this will become one of them! We did door-dash after looking at their menu which made everything look excellent! I got the meat burrito (x2) and smothered in green chili. Got a taco on the side. Wife got the chili relleno with the cheese enchilada and a taco. We shared bites and everything tasted great! The chili had excellent flavor, the veggies were fresh, the rice was cooked just right, and the retried beans was perfect! The sopas were excellent. Needless to say I had the 'ol full belly pains because I ate too

Thanks La Salita for having a vegan portion of your menu for leaf eaters like myself!!

I enjoyed the avocado stuffed chili relleno deliciously breaded with eggless batter- this is the first time I've ever found dairy free rellenos, so it was of course the best way to celebrate my Friday. My husband tried the stuffed sopapillas with beyond meat.

Finding La Salita helps us to enjoy refried beans without fear of lard (FOL) and we enjoyed our Spanish rice without threat of chicken broth (ToCB) !

There have traditional Mexican food here too so it caters to all tastes!

Wonderful chile-loaded lunch, and for a reasonable price. I'm an outsider to the chile world, loading up about once or twice a year, and I anticipated needing extra kleenex, but this meal was perfect: "hot" enough to satisfy my cravings, but not so hot that I'd need more than two glasses of iced tea. My wife had a balance of red and green chile for her meal, and she enjoyed it as well. I had a carne adovada burrito without cheese, and she had the chile rellenos.

Great food and great prices. Go on Taco Tuesday for $5.00 tacos served with 2 sides AND chips and salsa! What a deal! They also do $5.00 frito pie!
It's not the fanciest place but it is consistently good food and service is also spot on! I'll be there every Tuesday! Yum yum!

Ordered the Chile relleno with green Chile sauce and avocado. It was great! Crunchy, and yummy!

Especially also liked the chips and queso. It had the right amount of spice and chopped up chiles in it! And a generous portion of chips. Would be happy to order delivery from here when I come to NM again.

My husband and I were craving comfort food.
We've just heard that La Salita has vegan option so we decided to try it.
And it did not disappoint.
It was so flavorful and delicious, we got the Vegan Avocado Rellenos and the vegan enchiladas plate.
The quantities are generous so we even had a little bit of left over for the next day.
Also with Covid 19 going on they do curbside pick up which is great since you don't even have to leave your car.
They were super friendly and brought our food promptly to the car.
I definitely recommend and will be back.

Remember the good old days when life was simple, the biggest thing in life was your TV, well folks La Salita takes you to nostalgic days when life was sooooooo damn good.

La Salita is keeping New Mexican traditions alive and well, just good old simple tasty New Mexican cuisine.
The beef taco meat is out of control so tasty & scrumptious. The beans & rice are nice and they don't skimp on the cheese please! Their relleno's are the bomb. Hot fresh Sopapillas with real honey, not in packets..... Thank you!

Take me back to the good old days every day at La Salita!
