Theatre Forty-Information
Beginning in 1964 a group of actors gathered at the home of Susan French to read the works of William Shakespeare. The address was 40 Haldeman Road in Santa Monica Canyon. Thus the name, Theatre 40. Theatre 40's first production was The Winter's Tale. In 1966, we produced Twelfth Night and The Merchant of Venice in MacArthur Park.

This was Los Angeles' first Shakespeare in the park. Soon after this achievement, we began our association with the Beverly Hills Unified School District by producing our plays at the Horace Mann School auditorium. In 1969, we strengthened our relationship with the school district by creating a theatre appreciation course for their adult education program.

Nice little theater. Very intimate. I saw a fantastic play here recently, Sunday Dinner. It was my first time visiting Theater 40. I was pleasantly surprised with is intimate venue. The intimate nature of the setup made the audience feel like they are a part of the play, immersed into the action, drama, and emotional roller coaster that is taking place within arms reach.

Nice theatre, free inside parking. A little tricky to find. Colorful environment. Small venue, when we visited it was a mainly a mature audience.

I was there recently for a short play by students about 9/11. I applaud the students of Beverly Hills High School for commemorating this tragic event and remembering the lives that perished 18 years ago.

Saw a presentation of two Rod Sterling's Twilight Zone episodes. A small theater but great effort by the cast. A very personal experience.

Myself and three other couples were unable to locate Theater Forty. There were misleading signs and no clear directions. Apparently this theater is located somewhere on the campus of Beverly Hills High School. However none of us could find it. Too bad, as I really wanted to see this show.

My friend and I are big theater fans and were looking for something to see this holiday season. When I saw "The Consul, The Tramp and America's Sweetheart" on groupon, I wanted to give it a try because of how much I love history. I was NOT disappointed. The theater was cozy and warm, and the set was immaculate and very beautiful with all the right small details. The "invisible wall" in the middle of the stage was brilliantly done by both set design and how it was treated by the actors. Of course the lighting and sound deserve praise for their work as well. A fresh 'Breath of Spring'
About Theater Audrey Linden

Theatre 40's current production of playwright, Peter Cook's "Breath of Spring" is a refreshing and witty British drawing room comedy. The ensemble cast of eight talented performers carries off this "Arsenic and Old Lace" comedy. Despite that some of the actors went in and out of their British accents, the tone of the madcap comedy was "spot on," and delightfully funny.

Jeff G. Rack's fine living-room set was exceptional with its dark caramel walls with dark green touches. It was so

I only heard of this theatre because of my friend's play (Marilyn and Sinatra). Wonderful theatre, would have been hard to find were it not for numerous signs the theatre put up guiding us to the parking and to the theater itself. The theatre has great layout, awesome staff and funny school bathroom stalls, which made it even more adorable :) Can't wait to return!

We came to see the opening night of Marilyn and Sinatra, the play written, directed and produced by Sandro Monetti that chronicled the love affair that Marilyn Monroe and Frank Sinatra shared. With tid bits of real history and explanations of actual events, this sensational play based on a true story was fascinating. It was a brilliant play that had us singing classic hits on the car ride home. The acting and direction was first class and is sure to be on the way to a world tour.

The Theatre 40 at the Reuben Cordova Theatre at Beverly Hills High School is an excellent intimate locale to enjoy

Came by to watch "Double Door" last night and enjoyed the show very much. I had no idea that this theatre was a part of a high school building and although that may seem a bit discouraging being the fact that it's within a high school, I was very much pleased with the cleanliness and decor of the theatre. Never jude a book by its cover they say (:

I parked on the corner of Moreno & Durant not knowing that there was a parking structure that had free parking, but the walk was fairly nice being able to see the campus (very nice high school) realizing the theatre was next to the

I've only been to one performance but thoroughly enjoyed the intimate and lovely theatre and the folks involved with booking, subscriptions are just great. You don't get the impersonal Ticketmaster type of exchange. Professional yet down to earth with a family feel. Love the convenient location and interesting selection of plays. Looking forward to the rest of the season! Would recommend it to all my friends. Very affordable.

I have never been disappointed after attending a play at Theatre 40. The choice of plays is varied and always interesting, the acting is superb and the set design and costumes are pretty amazing. The theatre itself is small and intimate and every seat in the house is good. Because you are so close to the action, you feel intimately connected to the actors and the plot, whether it be a dark comedy, a serious drama or everything in between.

This was my first time visiting this Theater and unfortunately it was a poor choice. One of my clients recommended Theater 40 and the play was satisfactory but the staff was horrible. The directions provided in the email were difficult to follow and two other people that I randomly met there were also walking all over Beverly Hills High School to find the Theater. There was a concession stand with pre-packaged snacks and beverages, and at intermission I got a snack and a beverage along with several other people. When walking back into the Theater during intermission a female employee forcefully

Theatre 40 productions are held in the Reuben Cordova Theatre on the campus of Beverly Hills High School. There is plenty of parking if you know how to get to the garage. As you head northwest on Moreno Drive past the front lawn of the high school, turn left into a small driveway across from Durant Drive. Follow this drive and it will make a left and bring you behind the building. There are signs to direct you and the entrance to the theatre is from the garage.

The space is small probably seating less than 75 people at a guess. It's a very nice space, the seating is comfortable, and

Theater 40 is a small 99 seat theater located in the Reuben Cordova Theater on the campus of Beverly Hills High School. A friend and I came to this theater for the first time a couple months ago.

It was interesting in an odd sort of way, to be standing around in a High School hallway waiting for the theater to open their doors. Not that it brough back any bad memories from my high school days.... LOL

Being it has just 99 seats with 3 (main) rows, I don't think there's a very bad seat in the house.

The production we saw (Dreams of the Washer King) was extremely convoluted, confusing

We just went to their Murder in the Mansion at Greystone Mansion. It's loosely based on what happened with the Doheny family (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greystone_Mansion)...all I can say is: GO! It was an incredible performance that takes you throughout the mansion (which is never open to the public, so that alone is worth the cost of admission) and you actually forget for a moment that you're watching a play-which is always a good sign.
