Services
I received my doctorate from DePaul University in Chicago in 1982, specializing in Child Clinical Psychology and completed my internship at Convalescent Hospital for Children in Rochester, New York. During my internship I worked with children and families in the residential, out-patient, and group homes operated by the hospital.
I offer a general practice that is focused on both diagnosis and treatment of children, adolescents and adults. Services included are described below. I provide individual therapy for children, adolescents, and adults. Therapy is tailored to meet the individual needs of the clients. In consultation with the client cognitive behavioral, systemic and psychodynamic approaches are used to inform the direction of the therapy.
My approach to therapy is practical. Sometimes that means we will focus only on the current problem and develop an understanding of the thoughts and feelings associated with the situation. With a clearer understanding of the issues I will work with you to develop new coping methods and problem solving techniques.
Privacy is a primary concern of any therapeutic relationship, so we cannot reveal the identities of those quoted here. However, each is taken verbatim from comments submitted by patients of Dr. Press. This woman is a wonderful psychologist. She's smart and extremely adept at working with children and parents.
If you wish to get in touch with me for any reason, please contact me at my Connecticut office, 203-221-0355. If after reading about my practice and philosophy you would like to talk to me and make an appointment please contact me at 203-221-0355. I am looking forward to speaking to you and helping you find support for any difficulties you or a family member may have.

Not certain about her motivation for treatment. Decided early on I needed a prescription, but she is unable to prescribe. Initially she said she would call my GP doctor, but then refused to do so.
She rattled off a number of possible prescriptions (ones that might work and ones that probably wouldn't). Overwhelmed with different names and could not remember which I should talk to my doctor about, but could not get info from her. Also would not give me names of diagnostic tests she used to come to prescription conclusion.
Try a more helpful counselor.
